Senior Construction Engineer

Senior Construction Engineer to help us keep building.
Working with our Civil Field team, you will
work with a variety of multidisciplinary professionals on several different projects.
What You'll Do
- Administration and coordination of multiple municipal construction projects.
- Verify the Contractor's completed work is in compliance with the contract documents for each project.
- Lead and Coordinate project meetings, which may include preconstruction meetings, progress meetings and public meetings, and distribute meeting minutes for each.
- Supervise engineers and technicians performing inspection, administration, and documentation for infrastructure projects from pre-bid meeting to contract close-out.
- Oversee the generation of all project pay estimates, contract modifications, work orders and other generated documents.
- Review work produced by project oversight team in both the office and the field and verify the acceptability of the generated documents.
- Provide technical leadership for complex or unique assignments.
- Provide guidance and training to inspection staff.
- Read and interpret complex contract documents and utilize the information to determine the most appropriate solutions to unforeseen project issues as they arise.
- Monitor activities of assigned staff for conformance with contractual requirements.
- Communicate effectively with staff, local agencies, and the general public.
- Effectively communicate project status and issues to client and formulate viable solutions.
- Review and draft responses to Contractor's correspondence and claims as required.
- Monitor project budgets, proactively identify issues, and communicate them to clients along with recommended corrective actions.
- Assist with business development and growth efforts
- Manage internal project services contract budgets.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- PE License in Michigan preferred.
- Potential candidates must have 10 or more years of municipal construction experience.
- Experience working with the City of Detroit, Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, Great Lakes Water Authority or Oakland, Macomb and Wayne Counties is preferred.
- Experience with Michigan Department of Transportation is a plus.
- Prior experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Engineer performing oversight and administration for underground utility, road and/or bridge construction projects.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage projects ranging from local streets to complex urban freeways and structures.
- The ability to develop innovative solutions and sustain partnerships.
- The ability to resolve conflicts in a professional manner.
- Strong teamwork and leadership capabilities.
- A valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record.
