Dayshift working Monday-Friday from 6am-2:30pm. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Material Receiving & Verification Unload incoming raw materials, components, and supplies using forklifts, pallet jacks, or overhead cranes. Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and certifications (e.g., material test reports for metals). Inspect materials for damage, correct alloy/grade, and proper dimensions. 2. Inventory Management Maintain accurate inventory counts using ERP/MRP systems. Label, tag, and store materials according to shop standards (heat numbers, lot traceability, FIFO). Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory audits. 3. Material Staging for Production Pull raw stock (bar, plate, sheet, tubing, castings) based on job travelers or work orders. Deliver materials to CNC machines, manual machines, or waterjets. Ensure machinists have correct material type, size, and quantity to prevent downtime. 4. Cutting & Preparation Operate saws (band saw, cold saw) to cut raw stock to required lengths. Deburr, clean, or prep materials before sending them to machining. Record cut lengths and scrap for traceability. 5. Work-in-Process (WIP) Movement Move parts between machining centers, inspection, finishing, and shipping. Track WIP status in the ERP system (DMS) to maintain production flow. Protect parts from damage using proper packaging, racks, or containers. 6. Shipping & Outbound Logistics Package finished parts according to customer specifications. Create shipping labels, bills of lading, and documentation. Load trucks safely and efficiently. 7. Equipment Operation & Safety Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment. Follow OSHA and shop-specific safety procedures. Maintain a clean, organized warehouse and production floor. 8. Documentation & Traceability Maintain accurate records of material movement, heat numbers, certifications, and job travelers. Ensure full traceability for aerospace, defense, medical, or other regulated industries. Update digital and physical logs as required. 9. Communication & Coordination Work closely with machinists, production supervisors, quality inspectors, and property. Report shortages, damaged materials, or delays immediately. Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives. Most manufacturing and machine shop material handlers are expected to lift 30-50 lbs routinely, and up to 75 lbs occasionally. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: * Beginner to intermediate computer skills in order to complete timecards and data entry into software databases QUALIFICATIONS: WORKING ENVIRONMENT PREFERENCE STATEMENT EEO STATEMENT | |
