Luther Manor is seeking a Volunteer Services Coordinator.

As a Volunteer Services Coordinator, organizes and directs the volunteer program to ensure the recruitment, utilization, and support of volunteers. Provide oversight and management of the volunteer program for Luther Manor. Building strong partnerships both inside and outside of the organization and to market, recruit, place and retain a diverse and energized group of dedicated volunteer resources. The Volunteer Services Coordinator will work to expand the number of volunteer opportunities and ensure that vital Luther Manor operations are appropriately staffed in order to meet organization's mission and vision.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Develops and maintains a volunteer program to ensure consistency and quality of services to residents.
  • Maintain compliance with federal standards in long-term care and CBRF settings.
  • Supervises all activities affecting employees and volunteers and manages all program responsibilities including fieldwork, federal training standards and outreach activities.
  • Supports program quality monitoring and improvement efforts, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures in accordance with Luther Manor Human resources.
  • This position must be knowledgeable with modern volunteer recruitment methods, federal and state statutes, regulations, and administrative codes.
  • Consults with staff concerning volunteer placement, prepares volunteers assignments and ensures that each assignment is filled as feasible.
  • Identify, develop and implement creative volunteer marketing/recruitment strategies and methods to attract and retain a sufficient pool of volunteers to maintain efficient operations as part of a strategic plan.
  • Manages scheduling, coordination and record keeping of all volunteers.
  • Plans and carries out programs to acknowledge the contributions of volunteers, such as the annual volunteer banquet and other recognition events.
  • Contribute as an engaged team member on Luther Manor's Cares Committee.
  • Be an active team member to Luther Manor Foundation's Fundraising and Special Events Team.
  • Proactively assist Pastoral Care and Life Enrichment team(s) in fulfilling program and activity requirements.
  • Collaborate with Hospice leadership to align volunteer activities with patient and family care goals.
  • Provide oversight and support for volunteers serving in the Den of Antiquity resale shop and Great Room Cafe, including assisting with inventory management, donation coordination, and day-to-day operational questions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

* Effective leadership and team building skills required: ability to work with a wide variety of individuals by using tact, diplomacy and flexibility required.

* Good organizational skill required

* Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required.

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Working knowledge of best practices in volunteer coordination.

* Recruiting, screening, and training experience.

* Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative work environment and promoting teamwork.

* 5 Plus years of successful volunteer administration and/or relationship management preferred but not mandatory.

* Strong management and supervisorial skills.

* Experience managing volunteers.

* Strong scheduling, follow-up and interpersonal skills.

* Proven ability to work steadily and independently with minimum supervision.

* Knowledge of methods related to the conduct of volunteer programs for non-profit organizations.

* Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events, volunteer support, and departmental operations.

* Ability to safely lift and move donated items and light furniture, including boxes and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
