Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist to join the team. PRN Looking for a candidate with a flexible schedule/can cover weekdays or weekends. 8 hour shifts (8-9 am start time).

The Behavioral Health Therapist 1 provides a range of mental health and/or substance use disorders therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan. May participate in inpatient and community psychoeducational programs, facilitate support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, medical diagnosis, chronic or life-limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach. Duties will be performed under the clinical supervision of an approved registered clinical supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certification - Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire, Crisis Prevention Institute in-person training for non-violent crisis intervention, receive CPI blue card within 6 months of hire; After 9/1/25, Vistelar replaces CPI for new and renewed de-escalation certifications.
  • Licensure - Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP) within 5 years. Must comply with the appropriate licensing board requirement for registering as a Resident in Training or Supervisee in Clinical Social Work or applicable title identified by the specific licensing board within 4 months of hire.
  • Experience -Internship in mental health or substance use disorder treatment completed within 90 days of employment.
  • Education - Masters Degree Behavioral Science and Health Masters degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, counseling, psychology, or behavioral health-related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with high acuity, community health or hospitalization
