The initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of an extension based on performance and the availability of funding. The group consists of a research staff, postdocs, graduate and undergraduate students broadly studying the stellar populations of nearby galaxies with a variety of cutting edge facilities (e.g., HST, JWST, Keck). The group interfaces with various research programs at Berkeley (e.g., DESI, UVEX) and works closely with simulators and theorists to interpret results. Under the supervision of PI Weisz, the candidate will help with preparation for the spectroscopic survey of massive stars as part of the Ultraviolet Explorer (UVEX) mission. These duties include assistance in planning observations, simulating datasets, obtaining and analyzing complementary datasets, writing up reports, contributing to publications, and attending internal team meeting, and presenting results and plans to the broader community.
