Quality Engineer

As a Quality Engineer within PPG's Aerospace Business, you will support the development, manufacturing, and sustainment of sealants, coatings, and adhesives products at the Mojave site. You will be a part of the Mojave Quality Organization and provide subject matter expertise in quality sciences to lead compliance and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle. The Quality Engineer interfaces with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Science and Technology teams. Also, you will work with customers and suppliers, to ensure product and process integrity from design through delivery and sustainment.

We base this position fully onsite at our Mojave, CA facility and you will report to the Site Quality Manager.

Responsibilities:

* Improve product quality and manufacturing processes, support production team to troubleshoot production batches of coatings and sealants to ensure FTQ

* Lead RCCA analysis using statistical quality tools and corrective action implementation

* Cost savings for the plant by reducing cycle time, improving first pass yield, and reducing scrap using Global quality tools.

* Provide training on quality improvement topics, communicate with internal/ external customers, support new product qualifications and special projects

* Apply continuous improvement methodologies, manage customer complaints, and monitor quality performance data, and Quality Stand Operating Procedures.

* Be the subject matter expert for Quality training, review Quality training effectiveness

* Ensure flow down of program and regulatory quality requirements across engineering, procurement, production, and sustainment processes.

* Guide closure and accountability for NCMRs, Customer Complaints, SQARs, CARs, MRB, PFMEA, MOC, and audit findings.

* Collaborate with S&T on batch ticket review, analyze technical documentation, manufacturing data.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering roles.
• Experience with AS9100, FAA regulations, and core quality engineering tools (RCCA, SPC, MSA).
• Demonstrated experience conducting technical reviews, interpreting engineering drawings, and managing configuration control.
• Experience analyzing process variation, interpret metrics, and apply data-driven methods to improve quality performance.
• Collaborator with experience working on teams and engaging directly with customers.
• Familiarity with aerospace transparency materials and associated optical performance standards encouraged.
• Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refuges are eligible to apply.
• You have to be eligible to obtain security clearance.
• Professional certifications such as CQE, AS9102, Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent encouraged.
• Knowledge of FAA PMA processes, OEM quality/engineering flow-down requirements, or aircraft certification practices is advantageous.

The base salary range for this position is $72,000 to $90,000, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to 7% of base salary.
