The University of Arizona's Department of Molecular & Cellular Biology invites you to apply for the role of Instructional Designer I. The Instructional Designer I position will work to develop and implement the current AIM-Bio curriculum in the MCB-181 laboratory class. Duties will include developing and refining written protocols for student experimental assays, acquiring information on assignment efficacy, and fine-tuning laboratory materials. The Instructional Designer I will also be expected to develop firsthand experience with the content and curriculum delivery in approximately 4 of the 48 sections offered. The position will also involve understanding and adjusting the Teaching Assistant (TA) training curriculum for the 3-hour weekly professional development meeting. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the current curriculum implementation. Experience teaching AIM-Bio and familiarity with the curriculum, training, and delivery is required. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Plans, organizes and refines
curricula, materials, and programs to meet the course learning objectives for both student sections and the preceptor and TA training sections. - Analyzes the learning needs of the
laboratory class and the learning assistants and learns greater depth of knowledge to help TAs navigate course content and delivery. - Helps the current
teaching team with details of content delivery, lab management, and section timing. - Works to ensure that course materials,
content, protocols, reagents, and the learning management system are current and relevant. - Plans and coordinates TA skill
assessments and trainings, as well as preceptor activities to help facilitate content delivery in lab classrooms. Also works to analyze and revise laboratory assignments and quizzes. - Teaches several sections, help with the preparation of laboratory materials, and provides backup teaching support.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
advanced learning attained through experience required. - 1 year of relevant work
experience required.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience teaching laboratory classes and/or in laboratory instructional settings.
- Experience with student-centered content, and active learning techniques in the AIM-Bio curriculum, or at least of general active learning modalities and the practice of delivering content in the same.
- Experience working with, performing routine maintenance on, and conducting simple field repairs of teaching laboratory equipment, including light microscopes, computer imaging, and/or pipettes.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.
