Position Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Building Services at UCLA Anderson School of Management, the individual in this role works collaboratively in a close team to support the school's academic mission by ensuring the operational integrity and safety of the facility's spaces. The daily critical responsibilities are primarily active, including completing building checks, setting up equipment and furniture for academic events, reporting items for proactive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, mail and package logging and delivery, managing the equipment inventory, interfacing with vendors and campus Facilities, and supporting departmental operations. It requires ensuring customer experience, safety, and policy compliance, along with being a part of the emergency preparedness and response team. This role is also frequently customer facing, requiring the active response for customer needs including addressing inquiries, issuing keys, and escalating maintenance and security concerns. The individual in this position is expected to perform assigned roles with minimal supervision. The Supervisor will evaluate the progress and effectiveness of systems and tasks performed on a regular basis. Problem solving and efficiency of the area will occur each day. Systems and procedures established with the Facilities and Services Manager will be followed.

Qualifications

  • Background working in a extensive customer service environment, with ability to establish rapport and good working relationships with university visitors, staff, campus facility, vendors and students. (Required)
  • Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, twist and physically lift boxes or materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to move furniture, tables, chairs, filing cabinets, and easels, with assistance. (Required)
  • Must be able to take precautions to prevent or mitigate safety hazards-taping cables to floor or carpet (bending or crawling); lifting and carrying appliances and other devices; mopping or hand drying spills on floors or walls (bending, twisting, crawling) (Required)
  • Knowledge of campus building policies, including basic repair descriptions, facilities work control procedures, and campus mail procedures. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge & experience working with state-of-the-art large multi-faceted copiers. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures as the apply to the workplace personnel. Training certificates from LA Fire Dept (CERT) and the American Red Cross. (Preferred)
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and routine procedures. (Required)
  • Must have excellent organizational and verbal skills. (Required)
  • Must always be professional and diplomatic to all Anderson occupants, faculty, staff and visitors. (Required)
  • Excellent customer service skills, with ability to solve problems using good judgment and independent thought process. (Required)
  • Computer experience using a PC, including software such as Windows, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint for signs, Outlook email system. (Required)
  • Good communication skills to interact both verbally on the phone and in person with departments on campus, faculty, visitors, students, administrators and all occupants of Anderson. (Required)
  • Strong team building experience, ability to be leader of team as well as participant of team. Experience working in a strong team environment. (Required)
  • Ability to participate in a team-based rotation for occasional evening and weekend coverage, typically scheduled in advance. (Required)
  • Must be able to safely operate non-motorized material handling equipment including 2 and 4 wheel dollies, pallet truck, both with assistance and alone. (Required)

  • Schedule

    Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
