Position description

The Division of Geriatrics, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA is seeking a candidate for a Project Scientist position at the Full rank.

The candidate will work with Dr. Steve Horvath, supporting a research program focused on the biology of aging, including understanding the mechanisms of aging, identifying biologic markers of aging, and developing translational strategies to promote healthy aging and improve quality of life in older adults.

A Ph.D. in biostatistics is required. The following skills are required:

Technical Expertise:

* Epigenetic clocks & aging biomarkers, DNA methylation & epigenomics

* Statistical genetics and epigenomics (GWAS, EWAS, mQTL/eQTL, Mendelian randomization)

* Longitudinal & large-scale genomic data analysis

* Multi-omics integration, biomarker discovery, and genomic data analysis

Quantitative & Computational Methods:

* Machine learning and neural networks for phenotype prediction and biomarker development

* Large-scale data analysis (UK Biobank and population cohorts)

* Multi-omics integration for target prioritization and biological insight

* Experience with deep learning models in regulatory genomics (e.g., Enformer)

Multi-Omics Data:

* scRNA-seq

*ATAC-seq

*vChIP-seq

*chromatin regulatory genomics (NGS)

Programming:

* R (primary)

* Python

* MATLAB

*SAS

* Linux/HPC environments
