Short Description The Critical Care Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients' activities of daily living and supports the overall plan of care. This role involves direct communication with and support for the healthcare team, patients, and their families or significant others. The position requires maintaining high standards of professional ethics and contributing to the delivery of quality patient care within the organization.
Overview Kelemen North 7 is a 23-bed medical surgical/telemetry unit specializing in the care of traumatically injured patients. Patients with injuries that are stable but require ongoing close monitoring are admitted to this unit directly from the ED or the Ross TraumaAdmitting Area. Patients are also admitted to the unit as they are downgraded from the Trauma/Surgical ICU or the TraumaStep-Down Unit. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, traumasurgery nurse practitioners and resident physicians. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapy and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery. Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the care of the traumapatient. Experience Required 0-2 years' experience required. Education Requirements High School/GED required. Successful completion of Patient Care Technician training and have an active Patient Care Technician Certification required. License/Certification Requirements AHA Basic Life Support certification required Successful completion of one of these certifications; CPT, CPCT-A, ACMA Special Requirements Part time nights, 24 hours a week Hours: 7p-7:30a with weekend/holidays rotation Hourly Rate Min $18
