Primary Work Location: 50 Washington Street, Westborough, MA; hybrid work schedule Job Summary: The Tax Internship is available to current UMass students for the Summer 2026 and possibly fall and winter semesters. Interns are given a wide variety of diversified tax and business related assignments under the direct supervision of other tax professionals. The Tax Intern is responsible for preparing tax returns including the preparation of supporting work papers for various activities of the University. Essential Functions: The intern will research and consult on various tax projects, respond to inquiries, utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns, and carry out other projects as assigned. The Tax Intern will also support data analytics initiatives by collecting, interpreting, and analyzing tax-related data to improve processes and enhance reporting accuracy. This includes assisting in the design and development of analytical reports and dashboards. This person will contribute to a collaborative teamwork atmosphere, through working effectively as a team member; understanding personal and team roles; contributing to a positive working environment by building solid relationships with team members; proactively seeking guidance, clarification and feedback. Procedures vary with the nature of the engagement. Procedures may range from computer input to taking a tax project from start to finish including the research to support the project conclusions. Specifically, the intern is expected to inform the senior staff promptly of problems or tax issues encountered, provide explanations, and research tax issues.
