Description

The Float Cook is responsible for filling vacancies through proper food prep, cooking and service of food while recognizing special diets, resident's dietary needs and requests. This position is responsible for maintaining work areas in proper order and following established policies and procedures of the facility while demonstrating high levels of service.

Schedule:



  • Full-Time 1.0 FTE 80 hrs bi-weekly
  • 100% Travel Required
  • Shift: 6:00am-2:30pm or 11:30am-7pm
  • Positions works various weekdays and weekend shifts


Pay:



  • The targeted pay range for this job is $26.00 - $29.00 hourly depending on experience
  • Ecumen considers a variety of factors when determining new hire pay including experience, qualifications, and, when applicable, certifications, licenses, and education.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Provides consistent coverage for site cooking operations at various locations, filling staffing gaps created by leaves of absence, vacations, and vacancies during recruitment periods.

2. Provides exemplary service to our residents, families and guests, ensuring all feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service.

3. Prepares, cooks, and serves meals in accordance with recipes, production guidelines, food safety standards, and resident dietary needs; adjusts recipes for varying volumes, ensures portion control, accommodates special diets and resident requests, and promptly reports production shortages or overages.

4. Provides onsite training to team members in line with Ecumen standards and Food safety regulations. Reports companywide training needs to the Shoreview Dining Team.

5. Supports community departments with keeping eMenu accurate, making changes as needed with food items that have accurate alternates.

6. Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe and efficiently organized work area in compliance with all federal and state regulations. Assists with stocking and storing groceries as directed, ensuring all food and supplies are labeled, dated and rotated to support a fresh and adequate inventory.

7. Partners with department leaders to maintain awareness of facility special events and activities to ensure adequate product and labor are available.

8. Partners effectively with others in a demanding and changing environment, supports all employees within the community as directed by the leadership team.

Driving Requirements: Local Travel and Driver's License Required, Ability to travel 100% of the time.

Float Cook Minimum Required Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Certified Food Protection Manager or obtain within 12 months of hire
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written
  • Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident's Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Commercial kitchen experience
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Previous senior care experience
  • Serv Safe certification or equivalent
