Mead & Hunt is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Greenhouse Gas Reduction (GHGR) group in our West Allis, WI office. This position will typically support GHGR, Food & Beverage, and One Water projects and play a key role in planning, designing, and managing structural engineering tasks while contributing to technically diverse and complex projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and manage engineering tasks for structural systems, including building foundations and equipment supports.
  • Prepare and update drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Prepare, analyze, and/or modify reports, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, permits, and designs for projects.
  • Develop probable construction cost estimates for projects.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets for specific tasks within assigned projects.
  • Serve as a technical resource on assigned projects.
  • Perform quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical & process engineers and project managers.
  • Utilize structural analysis software such as Visual Analysis or RISA.
  • Support both fast-paced food & beverage projects and more complex GHGR & One Water projects.
  • Visit project sites to monitor progress and support construction administration activities.
  • May attend client meetings - days or nights.
  • May mentor and support the technical development of less experienced staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate must have a minimum of:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural, Structural, or Civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university AND 4 years of relevant experience

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure
  • Previous industrial experience
  • Experience with Visual Analysis and/or RISA
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong enthusiasm for mentoring and developing junior staff
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
