Description

The IPD Developer role is a key contributor to Brown and Caldwell's collaborative delivery efforts, supporting pursuit and sales activities across a range of delivery models. The IPD Developer role blends industry knowledge, relationship-building, and strategic thinking to help advance the company's growth goals. Working with Business Units and contractor partners, the Developer plays a growing role in shaping commercial strategies, supporting project delivery, and strengthening client relationships. The position offers increasing autonomy and visibility, with opportunities to lead initiatives and contribute to enterprise-wide success.

The PSBU IPD Developer supports Brown and Caldwell's collaborative delivery and project development efforts for the Private-Sector Business Unit. The role supports PSBU pursuit development, client engagement, and early project planning by applying a practical understanding of engineering, construction delivery, and commercial considerations.

Working closely with Private-Sector Business Unit, senior IPD leaders, and contractor partners, the IPD Developer helps shape delivery strategies that reflect constructability, cost certainty, schedule awareness, and risk mitigation. This position provides increasing autonomy and visibility, offering opportunities to lead components of pursuits, support privatesector project development, and build experience at the intersection of design, construction, and client strategy.

Responsibilities



  • Contribute to pursuit, sales and efforts, taking ownership of increasingly complex tasks and supporting strategic initiatives.
  • Contribute to private-sector project delivery considering construction-aware insights related to scope definition, delivery approach, sequencing and risk for private-sector project development.
  • Identify and evaluate private-sector client needs utilizing robust knowledge of products/services and industry trends, considering budgets, schedule drivers, operational priorities and delivery risk in partnership with client service teams.
  • Cultivate and identify pursuit/sales with new and existing clients, particularly within private sector and alternative delivery markets.
  • Partner with business units and contractor partners to foster relationships and support commercial constructs for teaming and execution.
  • Collaborate with senior team members on complex sales efforts and provide support where needed.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support early project planning, delivery strategy development, client engagement, with opportunities to lead components of strategic initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and executing operational and market strategies that support growth and positioning in collaborative/alternative delivery markets and private sector delivery.
  • Establish collaborative delivery methodologies and maintain robust engineering, commercial and construction delivery systems.
  • Perform risk management tasks and ensure all projects adhere to established guidelines.
  • May also assist others with critical or complicated sales and sometimes, project delivery.
  • Assist BC teams and client teams in defining and implementing a variety of collaborative delivery procurement strategies as a trusted advisor.
  • Support Client Service Teams with IPDrelated education and growth initiatives for targeted privatesector clients.
  • Serve as clients' advocate internal to BC.Stay in close coordination with Client Service Teams or CSMs on client collaborative delivery contracts and projects, and work with BC team members to: identify resources to support projects.
  • Assist/support Client Service Teams with IPDrelated education and growth initiatives for targeted privatesector clients.
  • Maintain client opportunity database.Through research and relationships, develop detailed knowledge and a deep understanding of future IPD in concert with geographic assignments and CSMs.
  • Develop winning project development strategies including identifying and engaging suitable teaming partners in appropriate teaming arrangements in the best interests of BC the and its clients.
  • Flexibility to adapt to evolving priorities and accept additional assignments to support pursuit and delivery needs.


Mentorship



  • Provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.


Skills & Competencies



  • Demonstrated skills in negotiation and sales with the proven ability to close significant deals.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial constructs for teaming and execution.
  • Sound understanding of engineering and construction delivery, and risk management.
  • Strong strategic thinking aptitude with the ability to drive market growth and positioning.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of project delivery methods.
  • Ability to successfully develop new business opportunities including: identifying program, design-build, and owner advisor opportunities, and making appropriate decisions on whether or not to pursue opportunities.
  • Ability to identify suitable new markets for BC's collaborative delivery services and to develop plans for initiating profitable client relations and projects in these new areas, including: understanding skills needed, comparing skills needed with current BC capabilities, identifying personnel to recruit to help capture new markets, ability to lead the preparation of strategically significant collaborative delivery proposals and related sales activity to win and close new opportunities.


Experience



  • Typically, a minimum of 15 years of experience in infrastructure programs and collaborative delivery, with increasing responsibility in sales, strategy, or project development is required.


Education



  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience is required.


Preferred Experience:




  • Working knowledge of private-sector construction delivery concepts, including constructability, sequencing, and project risk.

  • Understanding of collaborative delivery models and privatesector procurement approaches (e.g., CMAR, Progressive DB, EPC/EPCM).
  • Experience working directly with construction teams, contractors, or alternative delivery projects is strongly preferred.



Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $144,000 - $196,000

Location B: $158,000 - $216,000

Location C: $172,000 - $236,000
