Department Description

Under general supervision of the Director of Tutoring Services, serve as the department's payroll and personnel processor, primarily for a large student BX Tutor population in Tutoring Services, provide budget projections and balances for AATC accounts, reconcile ledgers, and provide internal and external billing. Coordinate travel reimbursements, purchasing, and event planning for tutoring services and may serve as the department's safety, ergonomics, injury, and emergency coordinator. Work closely with the administrative support staff to coordinate the operations of the front desk for students and staff in addition to working with the Student Life Business and Financial Manager.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Extensive experience with automated personnel, payroll, and accounting systems.
  • Experience working with complex spreadsheets and MS Office programs to gather, organize, and analyze a large volume of human resources, payroll, budget, and student data.
  • Experience working in a customer service environment.
  • Organizational skills to manage workload with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines.
  • Practice of principles and standards to make effective judgments and decision making as well as analytical and critical thinking skills to anticipate and identify issues and information requirements.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with a diverse administration, staff, faculty, and students, using tact, diplomacy, and good judgment during all interactions in the performance of a wide variety of programs and support functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Pivot Tables and other advanced Excel formulas and functions.
  • Experience using campus systems including, Shared Services Organization Case Management System, Aggie Enterprise, Aggie Travel, and TRS.
  • Experience working in an educational environment with teachers, administrators, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Department Overview

The Academic Assistance and Tutoring Centers is a large centralized academic support unit in Student Affairs. We provide an inclusive and interactive learning environment where students participate in reinforcing and retaining knowledge in multi-disciplinary writing, math, and science subjects through co-curricular academic services including classes, workshops, office hours, content reviews, drop-in tutoring, a writing studio, and writing appointments. AATC consists of 20 professional staff and 300 undergraduate BX tutors and readers and student assistants. The Math Diagnostic Testing Project is a program in AATC that supports math testing in K-12 California schools. AATC's administrative support team provides payroll and human resources assistance as well as program information for students and staff.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Work occasional overtime to meet operational needs. Restricted vacation during peak periods. This position requires daily on site presence M-F 8am-5pm with occasional remove work pre-approved by supervisor.
