Position Overview

ARES is seeking a Ground Systems Operations Helper to support launch range infrastructure, processing systems, maintenance activities, and operational support functions at Wallops Flight Facility. This position supports multidisciplinary teams responsible for safe and effective operation of ground systems and associated mission support infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support operations, maintenance, and sustainment activities associated with ground systems and launch support infrastructure.
  • Assistwith installation, modification, and maintenance of aerospace processing and support systems.
  • Perform corrosion control operations including sandblasting, welding, metalizing, and painting activities.
  • Support maintenance and operations activities involving mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Assistmultidisciplinary teams supporting range vehicle and spacecraft processing systems.
  • Support inventory management, transportation, fabrication, and maintenance program activities.
  • Identifyand help implement improvements that enhance operational performance, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  • Support operational activities involving hazardous materials, rigging, cranes, forklifts, and related equipment asrequired.
  • Attend required technical and certification training programs.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma and two years of related experience, or an Associate degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology, military equivalent, or related vocational certification.
  • Strong communicationand customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform physical labor and support operational field activities.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more related technical areas such as:Cryogenics,Aerospace fueling and decontamination,Mechanical or electrical systems,Fabrication,Transportation,Maintenance operations,Cleanroom operations,Corrosion control,Hazardous materials management,Crane and rigging operations
  • Willingness to learn multiple technical disciplines and pursue required certifications.

Work Environment

Safety and quality awareness and compliance are required. Shift work may be required. Assignments may change or vary based on operational requirements.
