Electrical Engineer - Hardware We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, test, and release of hardware products and systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a wide variety of work, from PCB design and prototype bring-up to lab testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and vendor coordination. The role offers exposure to multiple phases of the product lifecycle and the chance to work closely with cross-functional teams to turn ideas into reliable, manufacturable solutions. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the design and development of electronic hardware, including schematics, multi layer PCB layouts, and supporting documentation. Includes circuit design.
  • Support prototype builds, board bring-up, debugging, and validation activities in the lab.
  • Perform electrical testing, data collection, analysis, and troubleshooting to verify performance and reliability.
  • Develop, build and use of test fixtures, test setups, and design-for-test considerations to improve validation and production efficiency.
  • Work with team to review requirements, component selections, and design updates.
  • Coordinate with PCB fabrication, assembly, and component suppliers to help manage technical questions, lead times, and design-related issues.
  • Help prepare bills of materials, test plans, work instructions, and engineering documentation.
  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and other internal teams to support product development and production readiness.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and contribute to corrective actions for hardware-related issues.
  • Support multiple projects and tasks at once in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 1+ years of experience through internships, co-ops, academic projects, or full-time engineering work in hardware or product development. Experience in the design of some of the following electric equipment hardware or controls: Power conversion equipment, voltage source inverters, active harmonic filters, VFDs, sinewave low pass filters, dv/dt, notch, power factor control, embedded controls running on Microcontrollers, Digital Signal Processors (DSP) and PLCs. Serial communications equipment such as serial RS232/RS485, Ethernet, SPI, UART, CAN, serial gateways and PLC network tools. Air core and iron core magnetics design a plus.
  • Foundational knowledge of analog and digital circuits, PCB design principles, and electronic test methods.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium.
  • Experience routing mixed signal Printed Circuit Boards (analog and digital)
  • Experience designing boards to standards (UL 840 preferred)
  • Firm understanding of EMI mitigation and immunity techniques
  • Prefer experience testing boards for FCC Certification
  • Experience soldering and reworking boards
  • Experience using common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and logic analyzers is a plus.
  • Knowledge of C, C++, C#, and /or JAVA programming languages and knowledge of development environments for programmable logic controller (PLC) are a plus.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external vendors.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn in a hands-on engineering environment.
