| Posting Summary |
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (
SEBS) and the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Natural Resources at Rutgers University-New Brunswick invites applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor in Quantitative Ecology and Global Change Biology.
We seek a creative, collaborative scientist whose research addresses how environmental change is reshaping biodiversity, species distributions, and ecological processes across spatial and temporal scales. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, interdisciplinary research community and contribute to Rutgers' strengths in ecology, environmental science, and data-driven research. We expect the successful candidate to leverage large-scale datasets (e.g., remote sensing, long-term monitoring programs, citizen science) and a range of quantitative approaches (e.g., statistical modeling, machine learning, geospatial analysis) to craft an innovative research program on the ecological responses to climate change, land-use change, and other anthropogenic drivers.
Candidates working on terrestrial systems, particularly birds, and whose work bridges basic ecological theory and applied conservation challenges, are especially encouraged to apply. We welcome candidates with a clear vision for how they would collaborate within the Rutgers Climate and Energy Institute and/or leverage Rutgers' strengths in remote sensing, spatial analysis, and climate change research, while also utilizing our experimental forests and other local research sites in New Jersey. The candidate should articulate how their research program would complement and expand the existing strengths at Rutgers.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach an upper-level laboratory course in Ornithology, an undergraduate course in scientific writing, and contribute to quantitative education in the graduate Ecology and Evolution program. The candidate is expected to be active in the Ecology and Evolution graduate program and related programs as appropriate. Service to the University and department is also an expectation of this appointment. Candidates will be expected to engage in public outreach through Rutgers' Extension program or through other means.
