Sales Engineer - Explosion Protection Americas

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Sales Engineer - EP Americas. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

The Sales Engineer is the primary support resource for our customers, partners and outside sales team. They provide technical and commercial support during the quotation and implementations phases of explosion protection projects as well as continued commercial support to customers for their service requirements. The Sales Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all commercial and technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Participates in sales activities including but not limited to telephone and video contacts, trade seminars and shows, product demonstrations/evaluations, and customer seminars


2. Provides follow-up efforts on leads generated from marketing, trade shows, or other market means in collaboration with the outside sales teams


3. Creates, logs, and updates planned activities, contacts, design support, quotes, follow-up on project coordination and documents in CRM, Salesforce.com (SFDC)


3. Provides technical support to the outside sales groups


4. Based on information obtained from the customer or outside sales team, calculates and determines hardware needs, builds BOM and quote


5. When a service intervention is required, calculate and quote the necessary activities


6. Ensures all data on the design, installation and problem is known to the service team prior to the planned intervention


7. In case of discrepancy between quoted and performed activities or used materials ensures that an updated order is received or credit note is processed


8. Follows-up on quotations by email, telephone and video contact in collaboration with the outside sales teams


9. Collaborate with the customer and Fike applications and service teams to create customer drawings and provide project coordination


10. Maintains an understanding of all applicable standards and guidelines (for example: ATEX)


11. Ensures Fike is providing the highest level of "customer first" value in order to position as preferred supplier/partner - OTD, quality, technical support, product application, and customer return on investment

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical, sales, or marketing field. Ability to read and understand technical (electrical and mechanical) drawings and customer and industry standards. Ability to understand customer applications and problems, gather relevant data, analyze and draw conclusions. Ability to share knowledge across multiple teams. Proficient PC skills, especially in SFDC and Google G-Suite.


PREFERRED:Two or more years' experience in inside sales, engineering, explosion protection, fire protection or related industries. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or 3D modelling tools. Knowledge of additional European languages.

Compensation:The pay range for this position is $67,527 to $84,402 a year and may increase depending on the level of experience of the candidate.
