Specializing in precision machining and metal fabrication, our Sanmina Newark, California facility has 15 years experience in both precision and large format solutions for industrial, semiconductor, clean technology and oil & gas markets. We provide comprehensive engineering and test capabilities: from in-house and hydrostatic leak-testing of medium and large format vacuum chambers to machining of precision stainless steel mechanisms. We have the capacity to machine components up to 3 meters. Our metal fabrication services include grinding, vacuum welding, heat treating, plating and anodizing. We can process many advanced materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, ferrous-nonferrous and other exotic alloys.

Job Purpose:

Sanmina is seeking a dynamic Technical Support Specialist passionate about solving problems and driving operational excellence at our site. Whether you are a recent graduate eager to apply your skills or an experienced IT specialist looking for a long-term career path, this role offers the mentorship and hands-on projects you need to thrive. In this position, you will provide critical, day-to-day technical support for our employees, network infrastructure, software, phone systems, and hardware.

Nature of Duties:



  • Maintaining and supporting the Desktop environment, Installing, configuring and troubleshooting desktop and laptop systems, printers, workstations, peripheral equipment and network issues in a heterogeneous, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Maintaining passwords, data integrity and file system security for the desktop environment.
  • Communicating technical information to both technical and nontechnical operations personnel.
  • Recommending hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.
  • Creating user accounts.
  • Imaging PCs and laptops.
  • Desktop phone support in a VoIP environment, and cell phone user support.
  • Resolving anti-virus/anti-spam issues on user computers.
  • Working with customer systems to resolve network related issues.
  • Providing "help desk" support, resolving user problems with desktop applications, workstations, and peripheral equipment.
  • Installing and maintaining application and desktop software products.
  • Installing and supporting label printers and barcode scanners in the manufacturing environment.
  • May participate in the development of information technology and infrastructure projects.
  • May conduct training programs designed to educate users about basic and specialized applications.


Education and Experience:

We value expertise, whether it was gained in a classroom or on the office floor. You are a great fit if you meet one of the following criteria:



  • The Academic Path: An Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Management Information Systems (MIS), Cybersecurity or a related technical field.
  • The Technical Path: 2 to 4+ years of hands-on experience in a Technical Desktop Support or IT Specialist position with a deep understanding of IT infrastructure.


Preferred Qualifications & Skills:



  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Drive) and MS Office products.
  • 2+ years' experience in a Windows/ChromeOS environment preferred.
  • Experience with Active Directory (AD) Users and Computers Administration.
  • Basic knowledge of networking (cabling, switches, troubleshooting).
  • Experience with MS Security Administration and anti-virus software.
  • A "detective" mindset-you genuinely enjoy finding the source of a problem and fixing it.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements:



  • Dual-Site Support: This role supports two sites (Newark and Fremont) located just 5.5 miles apart. Expect occasional travel between locations (approx..10 - 15 minutes). Sanmina provides paid mileage and travel time for all on-the-clock driving.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and move IT equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Salary Range (annual): $55,000 - $65,000 ($26.44 - $31.25). Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
