UH MacDonald Women's Hospital is growing to meet the needs of our community, and we are looking for talented nurses to join our compassionate and dedicated team of Women's Health professionals.

The Labor and Delivery unit at the UH MacDonald Women's Hospital provides services to care for inpatient and outpatient pregnant women up to six (6) weeks postpartum who have an acute need for care. Designated as a Level VI Labor and Delivery unit (High Risk Unit), services provided may or may not be for labor and delivery. The unit serves as the inpatient and outpatient obstetrical operating room, outpatient evaluation and testing site, recovery room, and unit for the immediate stabilization of adults and newborns. Intrauterine fetal procedures or surgeries may also be performed in this department.

What You Will Do

  • The clinical educator provides and evaluates clinical education for licensed and unlicensed staff on all shifts and facilitates evidenced-based practice.

  • Collaborates with unit leadership to ensure staff competency upon hire and annually.
  • Supports leadership by facilitating staff's adherence to accreditation standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Exhibits leadership skills and ability to coach and develop staff to maintain and promote quality and affect change.
  • Works collaboratively with the Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development to identify learning needs, develop and implement educational strategies, and participate in learning effectiveness evaluation.
  • Adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Practice in Nursing Professional Development roles established by the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) to include: Educator, Consultant, Researcher, Facilitator, Change Agent, and Leader.
  • Provides patient care as required.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
