We are seeking a skilledRepair Technician to support the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of medical cameras and optical/mechanical devices in a highly regulated environment.
Position Overview
The Repair Technician is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and final testing on returned medical devices using specialized video test equipment. This role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work within established quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform incoming inspection, diagnosis, repair, and final testing of medical cameras and optical/mechanical devices
- Troubleshoot and repair products at the sub-assembly level
- Replace components such as printed wiring boards (PWBs), cables, power supplies, optical/mechanical parts, and drives
- Conduct software installations and optical cleaning as required
- Generate complete and accurate repair documentation within SAP, including diagnoses, parts used, and defect codes
- Perform SAP transactions such as data entry, stock transfers, and part status updates
- Review bills of materials, engineering changes, and repair upgrade procedures using SAP
- Implement engineering changes according to defined service rework instructions
- Analyze repair history to support accurate diagnoses and identify quality trends
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and service performance
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with quality systems and regulatory requirements
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of experience in electronic and/or optical/mechanical assembly
- Experience with inspection or final product testing
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Working knowledge of medical device quality standards (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, ISO 9001)
- Ability to use electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and vectorscopes
- Experience following detailed assembly and rework instructions
- Basic soldering skills
- Troubleshooting ability at the sub-assembly level
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Solid written communication skills
- General computer proficiency and data entry experience
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Manual dexterity to work with small tools and components
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Work performed in a structured, quality-controlled environment
Training Requirements
- OSHA-required safety training (Injury and Illness Prevention, Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens)
- Quality System training
- Role-specific technical training as required
