Position Description:

The Painter performs a variety of painting applications and related tasks that require knowledge of tools, techniques, equipment, and safety procedures. This role requires adherence to Wabash's safety standards and may involve other duties, including undercoating, as assigned. Painters are expected to exercise independent judgment and consistently meet Wabash's quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:




  • Apply paints and coatings using a variety of methods and tools. * Follow all safety procedures and protocols. * Perform additional tasks, including undercoating, as assigned by a supervisor or coordinator. * Maintain high-quality standards in all finished work. * Work under the direction of coordinators supervisors, and managers. * Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment through daily housekeeping and workplace organization practices. * Exercise independent judgment as appropriate to the task.



Tools & Equipment:

Below is a list of examples of the potential tools and equipment you may find yourself working with depending upon your department and location. Wabash provides all the necessary training for you to feel comfortable and confident to excel at your new career with us.




  • Paint sprayers


  • Brushes and rollers


  • Sanding tools


  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves, and safety glasses


  • Cleaning solvents and materials


  • Scaffolding and ladders


  • Air compressors


  • Mixing equipment



Qualifications:




  • Excellent attendance and punctuality. * Strong communication and teamwork skills. * Good organizational abilities and attention to detail. * Ability to make sound decisions with minimal supervision. * Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. * Previous experience with industrial painting or coating applications preferred. * Basic understanding of safety procedures and equipment use. * Computer and SAP knowledge is a plus, but not required.


Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:

Prior painting experience is helpful but not required. Wabash provides comprehensive training to ensure all new hires are prepared for the role. New employees will complete orientation and on-the-job training before working on the production floor.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Painters may be exposed to airborne particles, fumes, vibrations, and loud noise. Work may take place in areas with high temperatures or tight spaces. Safety, environmental, and health awareness is essential. All employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Physical Demands:

Painters are regularly required to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and operate tools for extended periods. The role may involve working in confined spaces and lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds. Good hand-eye coordination, visual acuity, and full range of motion in arms and hands are necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Must have both written and verbal (give instructions) communication skills.
  • High School degree or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred for this position.
  • Good people skills required.
  • Must have ability to learn and run required computer applications.
  • Possess required math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must have ability to understand and apply engineering specifications, Change Orders, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Good problem-solving skills required.
  • Must have ability to operate a variety of power tools, hand tools, and manufacturing equipment, and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).



PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires minimum of eight hours standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling with a full range of body mechanics/movements.

Regularly required to lift and carry up to 35 (thirty-five) pounds. Frequently required to lift and carry up to fifty-five (55) pounds. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to seventy-five (75) pounds.

Must be able to work in an environment requiring use of ladder, stairs, heights, platforms and climbing in and out of trailers or working under trailers in tight spaces.

Must have ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools safely, work with compressed air safely, operate fork trucks safely and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE)
