Basic Function
Troubleshoots, installs, repairs and adjusts indicating, recording and controlling instruments and valves. Reads schematics and understands digital control systems and valves, transmitters and transducers. Maintains and troubleshoots pH equipment, hydrocarbon and H2S detectors, and furnace oxygen analyzers. *Please see required testing for this position outlined below. Job Duties

Experience
Three (3) years of industrial, chemical plant, or refinery experience is required. A comprehensive physical examination must be satisfactorily completed. A drug screen is part of the physical. Experience troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and calibrating pneumatic and electronic process control instruments and valves. Education Level
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Technical Degree or Electronics Degree or training preferred. Required Skills
Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently, cope with several problems or projects at the same time, make decisions and take responsibility, read and interpret blueprints and control loop sheets, troubleshoot and repair an intermittent failure on process control equipment. Strong analytical skills. Knowledge in mathematics to calculate accurate figures for setting up flows, levels, temperatures, and pressures. Ability to read electrical schematics and draw simple work sketches. Strong background in instrument maintenance and troubleshooting along with construction. Strong understanding of refinery instrumentation and troubleshooting of P & I diagrams, loop sheets, control valves, recorders, controllers, and process control valves. Good verbal and written communication skills and mechanical ability; computer literate. Comprehend and follow verbal instructions, rules and regulations, both job and safety related. Proficient in the use of precision test and calibration equipment. Knowledge of the four primary process variables, i.e., flow, level, pressure, and temperature, about types "J" and "K" thermocouples and a basic understanding of Honeywell TDC (Total Distributed Control) systems. PREFERRED SKILLS: Experienced with the maintenance of distributive control systems, analyzers, and PLC expertise helpful. Ability to maintain and troubleshoot pH equipment, hydrocarbon and H2S detectors, and furnace oxygen analyzers a plus. Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
None. Work Conditions
Petroleum refinery based, industrial environment. This position will work in indoor and outdoor environments and in all possible weather conditions including wide range of temperatures, outdoor work in wet or humid conditions and inclement weather. Work in precarious places around, dust, dirt, chemical and petroleum product exposures. Work includes confined spaces, heights, near moving mechanical parts and/or rotating equipment, petroleum products, chemicals, pressure valves and/or tanks. Exposure to noise and vibration, close proximity of electrical hazards, and to hazardous, toxic and/or flammable materials. Must be flexible to changing schedules and willing to work overtime as business needs require - this can include weekend work, callouts and rotating 12-hour shift schedules at times. Benefits

Physical Requirements
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be able to grip, hold, operate various power and hand tools and make precise hand and finger movements. Able to lift, carry, climb, walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, push, reach, talk, hear, climb stairs and ladders and have a sense of balance. Able to lift and/or carry to 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds. Able to hear alarms, emergency horns and make visual inspections. Ability to reach overhead and at or below shoulder level. Physically demanding position requiring a large portion of time spent standing, walking and handling materials on various surfaces including but not limited to gravel, dirt, grass, concrete, stairs, in and out of vehicles and on uneven surfaces.Able to work from various body positions for extended periods of time performing strenuous physical activity. Able to work in confined spaces, in restricted areas, and at various heights up to 200ft depending on unit/area of refinery. Able to climb, ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding and stairways at various heights. Ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential and a valid driver's license and proof of insurance required.Ability to wearpersonal protective equipment including flame retardant clothing and ability to use SCBA and in-line breathing air periodically required.
