The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho we are seeking a Facilities Plannerfor the Rochester Reagent Manufacturing and Fluid Manufacturing sites to provide planning support to the Facility Operations, Maintenance and Engineering Team.The Rochester Facilities Team is responsible for day to day operations, maintenance, engineering and capital projects for approximately 900,000 square feet, across four buildings. Our facilities supports 7/24 manufacturing, R&D, Customer Technical Training & Support, IT and Administration. The facility systems we maintain are varied, customized and unique to meet the demand of manufacturing and R&D. These include HVAC systems providing controlled environments, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, refrigeration, industrial vacuum, purified water and automated building control systems. This position is onsite in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities

  • Individual will work closely with the facilities lead technician responsible for daily oversight of facilities operations, as well as in house mechanics and vendors, to develop a consistent planning process, leveraging resources across buildings, while supporting the needs and schedules of multiple production departments.

  • Plans daily facility operations, ensuring that the site is meeting the needs of employees and production in a 7/24 production environment.

  • Individual will be responsible to directly handle facility planning including PM and demand maintenance scheduling and job review utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS, i.e., Maximo).

  • Responsible to keep CMMS up to date for work orders, preventative maintenance, equipment history, parts, & job plans.

  • Ensures maintenance documentation is completed and maintained for Quality, Environmental and Regulatory Inspections.

  • Establish/create a parts database by equipment within the CMMS system to maintain inventory and ensure parts are available on time for upcoming work.

  • Work closely with procurement to streamline the parts ordering process.

  • Attends daily production and weekly planning meetings.

  • Ensures building and grounds are properly maintained.

  • Ensures mechanical and preventive maintenance and major repairs on all facilities equipment by internal mechanics and outside vendors are adequately completed.

  • Maintains positive working relationships with all support vendors.

  • Supports Lead Facilities Technician as needed.

The Individual

Required:

  • Associates in Electrical or Mechanical Technology / Engineering or related field preferred or equivalent experience.

  • A minimum of three years' experience in the facilities, electrical and/or mechanical industry is required.

  • Experience with databases and CMMS, such as Maximo, is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate facility maintenance activities and manage costs across multiple vendors and cost centers.

  • Must maintain close communication to internal departments. Able to plan, communicate and implement planned maintenance and shutdown events, ensuring the needs of internal departments and uptime are met.

  • Experience with facility equipment, parts, mechanical & electrical repairs, plumbing, & general maintenance is preferred.

  • Able to be on call during evenings and weekends, as part of a rotation. May require holiday or weekend work depending on maintenance schedules.

  • General knowledge of basic hand and power tools.

  • Excellent organizational and technical writing skills.

Preferred:

  • Degree in a technical discipline.

  • Experience as a database and/or SCADA engineer.

  • Experience in a regulated industry.

  • Strong knowledge of SCADA systems.(View Studio Suite and Ignition)

  • Familiarity with AllenBradley PLCs.

  • Location: Inside or outside, such as an office or outdoors, rooftop, walking on uneven ground

  • Weather: Typical Rochester weather conditions when outside exposure is required

  • Exposures: Hazardous materials, fumes, toxic chemicals, airborne particles, odors, or other unpleasant surroundings

  • Office: Traditional office space

  • Other factors: Frequent overtime, emergency staff designations, occasional on-call

The Physical Demands
  • Sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crawling, bending, squatting, climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs., carrying, reaching above shoulder height, low lifting, pushing, and pulling, repetitive movement of hands, intermediate visual acuity

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $66,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
