POSITION SUMMARY

The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for the centralized scheduling of Nursing Department Personnel. He or she must have knowledge of standards and policies relative to scheduling of personnel and must be able to organize and maintain records and logs related to work schedules. Additional duties may be assigned. The staffing coordinator must have good communication skills and be able to interact with members of all hospital departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Degree or equivalent required; two (2) years experience in psychiatric field or two (2) years college credit in related field.

Experience: Two (2) years of related experience. Knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours. Clerical skills such as computer literacy, filing, maintenance of schedules and logs required.


Qualifications

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedules Nursing Department Personnel according to established policies, collective bargaining agreements and staffing patterns.
  • Implements established procedures for reallocation of staff to meet daily needs.
  • Educates and trains Nursing Supervisors and Managers on the electronic scheduling system, ShiftHound.
  • Projects staffing needs for each shift based on acuity and special patient procedures (1:1, LOS, assistance with ADL's etc).
  • Consults with CNO or Nurse Manager when adjustments in staff numbers or mix is indicated.
  • Implements procedures for position control.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
