TheSenior HRManagerbasedin Houston, Texas, plays a crucial part in aligning HR initiatives withfunctionalbusiness needsat the Laporte Manufacturing site.This is an outstanding career opportunity for the experienced HR Manager whopossessesa track recordof success in management and leadership within the chemical,petrochemicalor refining industry. The role combines a manufacturing HR management function with leading day-to-day client interaction for the key production areas of the site.


This position involves working closely with leadership to drive key HR functions such Talent Strategies, organizational support, company culture, key company strategies alongside employee relations, talent development and acquisition and succession planning.


This position involvesworking closely with Senior Leadership in the establishment and transformation of our company initiative.

A Day in the Life

  • Provides HR leadership for the La Porte (LPO) site and Equistar Pipeline Operations (EPO) andparticipateson the LPO/EPO leadership team
  • Provide leadership in achieving the HR Goals and Objectives
  • Anticipate challenges andrecommendinnovative organizational solutions for complex problems
  • Deliver change management consultation with clients for various organizational design needs such as business growth goals, restructurings, etc.
  • Provides consultation and training on engagement & retention of employees
  • Drives and manages performance mgmt. processes; leading performance calibration annually, coaching leaders on tough conversations, co-creating performance improvement plans and development plans, and ensuring leaders are following through with the annual process.Assistleaders and teams with defining and developingengagementplanning.
  • Consults with clients on internal movement decisions; transfers, promotions, job enhancements and ensures decisions are in line with talent and skill gaps, developmentplansand career pathing
  • Mentors, coaches, and leads site HR team
  • Ensurestheestablishment ofsoundmanagementpractices,alignedwithHRpolicyprocedureandpractices,andconsistentdecision-making processes across the business.
  • Leadsacomprehensive talentmanagement andleadership development strategy,includingtheidentificationof highpotentialtalent andevaluation. Thisincludes identifyingleadership gapsanddevisingappropriate developmentplans andsuccession.
  • Developsastrongrecruitingandworkforceplanningstrategytostayaheadofattrition.UnderstandtheassociatedKPlsandremovebarriers.
  • ProvidesHRsupportfortheLaPorte site and Pipelinebusinesstoassistintheachievement ofbusinessgoalsandobjectives,providingpartnership withinternal client leadership at all levels.
  • Partnerswithleadersinthedevelopment andimplementationof organizationalstructure changes,includingidentifyingimpact andassistinginthe communicationas needed.
  • Proactivelymanageallemployeerelationsissuesandtakeappropriateactiontomitigaterisks.
  • Inpartnership withER/LR,conductsinvestigationsintocomplaints ofviolationsofCodeofConduct andhumanresourcespolicies,andprovides written investigation reports to Legal and Compliance.
  • ParticipatesinHRteamsandspecialprojectsasrequested.

You Bring This Value

  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of HR management/supervisory experience in the chemical, petrochemical or refining industry, andminimum15 years of overall HR experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • MusthavesolidHRfundamentalsandbroad-basedexperienceinHR,with experience working on diverse HR issues, includingan understanding of EEO laws and conflict resolution.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end businessprocesses.
  • Organizational transformation experience.
  • Highly developedinfluencing andcommunication skills,combinedwithstatureandexperience toeffectivelyrepresenttheCompanybeforea variety ofaudiences.
  • Possessfunctionalexpertiseintalentmanagement,organizationdesign,changemanagement, employeerelations,recruitingandstaffing,training, and leadership/management development, including succession planning.
  • BefamiliarwithHRbestpracticesincludingchange,motivation,andemployeedevelopment.He/shewillhavechangemanagement experience within a highly result-oriented environment.
  • Ensureoperationalexcellence andhavetheanalyticalskillstoeffectively analyze data,drawappropriate conclusions, andprovideusefuland insightful recommendations.
  • Solid anddemonstratedskillsin:consulting, mediating, negotiating, coaching, business acumen, influencing, and project management.
  • Thorough and deep knowledge of the employee life cycle.
  • Experience leading or contributing tomedium-to-large-scalere-orgs, org alignment, workforce planning efforts.
  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives, processes, or projects.
  • Experienced with working, consulting, and influencing high level leadership and management.
  • Experience working across an industrial/manufacturing client base influencing across, upward and downward.
  • PreferredQualifications
  • PHR or SPHR Certification preferred
  • Experience in the chemical, petrochemical or oil and gas industry
  • Prior SAP experience
  • The ability and flexibility to support continuous operating manufacturing sites
  • Exempt-level human resources experience in manufacturing or operations in a related industry
