The Department: The Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Department is the steward of approximately 450 acres of parkland, featuring community and historic parks, senior services, playgrounds, multigenerational facilities, aquatic centers, tennis courts, and multi-use fields. Nearly 40 percent of the city is dedicated to open space, and the department maintains approximately 40 linear miles of recreational trails. The Position: The position generally requires specialist knowledge for large high-profile events and/ or programs. Incumbents work independently, with little supervision. Assignments are complex in nature and require the proven ability to coordinate events or programs associated with a specific area of responsibility. *Part-time employee cannot exceed 980 total hours worked within one fiscal year* **This is a non-benefitted position**

Key Responsibilities
-
- Assist in coordinating sports fields and open space scheduling for sports organizations.
- Assist in coordinating and monitoring biannual field allocations for sports organizations.
- Coordinate and conduct park monitoring assignments and scheduling.
- Maintain and update important information related to contract agreements.
- Maintain schedule of field allocations and field use by sports organizations.
- Input program information into City of Carlsbad registration website.
- Assist in preparation of documents used for field allocation use, including light schedules.
- Assist customers with inquiries related to programs i.e., information, registration, refunds, and transfers.
- Complete customer surveys relating to programs.
- Coordinates related projects to ensure that the goals and objectives of the assigned program are met by performing the duties personally or through other team members or by supervising employees.
- Recommends and suggests guidelines and procedures for the assigned program.

- Strong computer skills, including basic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work directly with the public and a diverse audience.
- A flexible work schedule including afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.

Experience & Education

Any combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities, is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities is:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- College-level courses in recreation, education, physical education, or related field, is preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience and/or training, performing duties comparable to a Senior Recreation Leader, and experience working with the public.
- Additional licenses/certificates may be required depending on the specific assignment
