Overview
Aquent is seeking an Architectural Designer to support high-volume store planning, interior design, and site-adaptation initiatives for a premier retail health client on a consulting basis. This is a fast-paced, production-driven role where you will partner closely with internal Store Planning and Architectural leadership to execute precise drawing packages, update retail layouts, and coordinate with external consultants. The ideal candidate can quickly integrate into an established workflow, manage multiple concurrent projects under tight deadlines, and deliver accurate, code-compliant, and on-brand architectural documentation with minimal ramp-up time.
Key Responsibilities
- Drawing Production & Maintenance: Prepare, revise, and maintain detailed architectural drawings, spatial layouts, and construction documentation across multiple concurrent projects.
- Store Layouts & Test Fits: Adapt standard retail health store layouts to diverse, site-specific field conditions. Update test fits, space allocations, and fixture plans based on evolving program requirements.
- Consultant Coordination: Review external consultant drawing sets for quality, completeness, architectural integrity, and strict alignment with corporate brand standards.
- Markup Execution & Tracking: Efficiently execute and track architectural revisions, redlines, and markups using Bluebeam Revu and CAD tools.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal design teams and external engineering/architectural partners to resolve spatial constraints and design questions, escalating site-specific exceptions when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Technical Software Stack: Strong, expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD is required. A solid working knowledge of Revit is highly preferred, especially the ability to create or revise retail fixture plans.
- Document Coordination: Proven experience using Bluebeam Revu (or similar digital workflow tools) for architectural markups, quality reviews, and redline coordination.
- Retail Design Literacy: Direct experience working with construction documents, multi-unit retail layout plans, core-and-shell site constraints, and detailed fixture planning.
- Consultant Workflows: Familiarity with the coordination mechanics between interior architects, MEP engineers, and general contractors.
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related technical field.
Core Competencies & Soft Skills
- Exceptional Attention to Detail: A meticulous eye for structural alignments, dimensions, and brand standards to ensure error-free documentation.
- High-Volume Multi-Tasking: The organizational discipline to manage shifting priorities and deliver high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Collaborative & Visible Presence: A strong team player who communicates clearly across technical and non-technical teams.
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $40 to $50 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location. About Skill:
