Research Tech II - Bertolet Lab

Massachusetts General Hospital
$24.28 - $39.43
United States, Massachusetts, Boston
66 Blossom Street (Show on map)

Summary
The Bertolet Lab in the Center for Nuclear Medicine Research and Theranostic Sciences (CNMTS) at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, is a computational-experimental research lab focused on radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT) dosimetry, radiobiology, and treatment optimization. We develop mechanistic models of radiation delivery and biological response, and we are building a wet laboratory to generate the experimental data that validates and refines these models.
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Research Technician II to serve as a dedicated bench scientist. This is a founding position: the RT-II will anchor both experimental execution and day-to-day lab operations as we launch cell-based assays and animal studies. The primary responsibilities will include mammalian cancer cell culture, immunofluorescence staining for DNA damage markers, clonogenic survival assays, flow cytometry sample preparation, support for carcinogen-based animal tumor models, and management of laboratory safety and compliance. The RT-II will also handle radioactive materials (Lu-177 and Ac-225) following MGH Radiation Safety Office protocols.
The Research Technician will work under the direct supervision of the PI and in close collaboration with postdoctoral fellows in the group. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a startup environment, can work independently at the bench, and is comfortable helping define their own role as the lab grows. The PI brings expertise in computational dosimetry and radiobiological modeling and is building the lab's experimental capabilities; we are looking for someone whose bench expertise complements that computational background.
Carries out a broad range of technically advanced research activities and procedures; evaluates conclusions and has considerable latitude to modify or devise methods and techniques as necessary to achieve desired results; typically supervises technical and sometimes administrative elements of the research unit.
Does this position require Patient Care? No
