The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.
This is a MTA position-specific recruitment for a generic job classification. The resulting list of eligibles will be used under TSHRS to staff this MTA position or function only. You will need to reapply for any future generic or job specific recruitment for this job classification.
The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Bus Transportation Instructor to join our team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, readiness, and professionalism of MTA Bus, Mobility, and transit vehicle operators. Position Responsibilities: The Bus Transportation Instructor is responsible for conducting both classroom and hands-on training for Bus Operators and other transportation personnel. Key duties include: * Training and qualifying personnel in the operation of MTA buses, Mobility vehicles, and other transit vehicles. * Facilitating required training courses in alignment with the MTA Bus/Mobility Operator certification program. * Conducting recertification, refresher (return-to-duty), post-accident, and desensitization training as required. * Providing training and testing necessary for Commercial Driver's License (CDL) licensure. * Scheduling classrooms and ensuring the availability of audio-visual equipment and training materials. * Assisting with the preparation or revision of training aids, literature, and other instructional resources. * Maintaining accurate training records, attendance documents, and performance evaluations. * Partnering with MDOT MTA management and division personnel to assess training needs and develop effective programs. * Utilizing Microsoft Office applications, Trackit, and MTA's Learning Management System extensively. This position requires flexibility, including the ability to work nights and weekends. This position is located in Baltimore City, Maryland.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of experience in administrative staff or professional work. *At least one and a half years of the required experience must have involved instructional experience in transit operations in either a classroom setting, on-the-job training, or Road/Route training.
*This statement contains a Selective Qualification, which is more focused in scope than the Minimum Qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or bona-fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skills or abilities).
The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION: 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
