Virtualization Engineer

Stellantis
United States, Michigan, Auburn Hills
May 15, 2026

Join a team that's redefining what software means in the automotive world. Stellantis is undergoing a transformation, and we're looking for innovators who want to shape the future of mobility. As part of the Software Organization (SWE), you'll help build the next frontier of virtualized automotive development-creating virtual ECUs, simulation environments, and nextgeneration V&V platforms that accelerate how we design, develop, test, and deliver softwaredefined vehicles.

As a Virtualization Engineer, you will develop and integrate virtual and soft ECUs, define simulation methodologies, and support the endtoend virtualization strategy for Stellantis. You'll collaborate across global teams, suppliers, and engineering domains to deliver highfidelity virtual ECUs to be integrated into xIL simulation platforms. Your work will enable continuous integration, automated testing, and rapid software validation across the entire vehicle lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build virtual ECUs and soft ECUs across all development stages-from early functional prototypes to targetlevel xIL simulation environments.
  • Architect and integrate artifacts into simulation frameworks supporting xIL (MiL/SiL/HiL) and simulationbased development workflows.
  • Ensure vECUs and soft ECUs meet the required fidelity, performance, and integration criteria.
  • Support continuous integration and delivery pipelines, automated testing, and agile validation workflows.
  • Work closely with global engineering teams, suppliers, and tool vendors on virtualization technologies
  • Collaborate with architecture, functional design, diagnostics, OTA, HMI, and communication protocol teams (Ethernet, CAN, etc.).
  • Ensure alignment with Autosar Classic and Adaptive platforms, Linuxbased systems, and multicore architectures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive software and systems development or deployment (ADAS, infotainment, etc.).
  • Knowledge in virtualization technologies
  • Strong understanding of virtual testing methods (modelbased, xIL, etc.)
  • Experience with agile testing, test automation, and testing standards
  • Background in complex test environments and global team collaboration
  • Experience with planning, reporting, risk management, and governance
  • Budget planning and management experience
  • Solid foundation in Agile, Scrum, and DFSS methodologies
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and projectplanning skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field
  • Experience working within an automotive OEM environment
  • Strong knowledge of modern software construction, integration methods, and toolchains
  • Proficiency with operating systems (Autosar Classic/Adaptive, Linux, etc.) and cloud virtualization
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and modelbased development
  • Understanding of automotive testing standards
  • Experience in one or more domains: Propulsion, ADAS, Infotainment, Chassis
  • Familiarity with branch strategies and variant management
