JOB SUMMARY

The Dental Patient Coordinator provides dental office support to ensure patient satisfaction. This position schedules appointments, greets patients, answers general questions, and performs registration and check-in/out functions. This position also maintains various patient records and databases of information, collects and posts payments, and provides assistance to the clinical supervisor.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collects and posts payments; performs reconciliation at day's end
  • Schedules, reschedules, and confirms patient appointments, surgeries, services, procedures, and consults in person and by phone
  • Performs patient registration; obtains additional patient information; downloads, scans, and maintains patient documents
  • Answers phone calls and responds to patient inquiries; refers, routes, and places calls and follow-up calls as needed
  • Greets and assists patients, visitors, faculty, residents, and clinical staff; maintains a clean, professional, and organized front office and lobby
  • Records and maintains clinic schedules; monitors incoming patients, tracks patient progress, and archives patients at the conclusion of treatment through the department's dental software
  • Obtains x-rays and test results; verifies benefits; assists with insurance protocols; precertifies tests and procedures where necessary
  • Prepares referral forms for tests, procedures, and consults with specialty physicians; assists with master schedule preparation as needed
  • May perform dental assistant duties, including assisting with dental surgeries, utilizing sterilization solutions and bags, disposing of biohazard materials according to infection control standards, and preparing operatories and instrument trays for multiple disciplines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma
  • One to three years of relevant work experience
