Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Physician Scheduler - Emergency Department - Manhattan.
In this role, the successful candidate The Physician Scheduler is responsible for managing physician scheduling for Residents and PEM providers in the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine. The role will create and maintain schedules in ShiftAdmin and AMION. This position will collaborate with leadership to ensure all shifts are accurately filled each block, in a timely manner, and in alignment with provider needs and satisfaction. The role is also responsible for processing payroll transactions related to moonlighting and other non-standard provider hours.
Job Responsibilities:
Generates and maintains schedules for 100+ providers across multiple sites using web-based platforms (ShiftAdmin, AMION) and other scheduling tools.
Ensures providers are assigned their minimum shift commitment based on open availability.
Updates the schedule to accommodate changes as they occur.
Reviews schedule daily to ensure accuracy.
Obtains regular and ad-hoc availability and scheduling preferences from contracted and per diem providers prior to each scheduling block.
Utilize scheduling policies and procedures.
Assess monthly and ongoing coverage needs.
Provides coverage as needed in the absence of others on the administrative scheduling team.
Distributes schedules to providers in advance of the start of the block.
Completes provider information forms for all new providers.
Updates and maintains provider contact and schedule information in Shift Admin.
Develops and maintains good working relationships with providers.
Maintains spreadsheets of yearly clinical hours, shift distribution, time off, and sick calls.
Accurately processes payroll transactions for moonlighting and other non-standard hours worked.
Responds to inquiries from management and individual clinicians.
Demonstrates flexibility in response to unexpected changes, workload shifts, emergencies, staffing needs, and scheduling requests.
Applies critical thinking skills and judgment in problem-solving.
Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including telephone and email correspondence with leadership and medical staff.
Maintains strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in a related field.
Minimum one (1) years of complex medical staffing or patient scheduling experience
Computer Skills: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Ability to develop formulae for moderately sophisticated spreadsheets; set up routine computer procedures; resolve simple software/hardware problems. Ability to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years experience of complex medical staffing or patient scheduling experience.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $53,294.22 - $73,618.27 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
