Our Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC) is at the forefront of innovation, driving digitally enabled manufacturing to improve safety, quality, and operational efficiency. Our teams partner across engineering, operations, and technology to deliver scalable, high-impact digital manufacturing solutions that support enterprise growth and performance.

Fuel your passion

The Commercial Leader - Advanced Manufacturing & Digital Solutions will lead the development of customer opportunities that combine advanced and additive manufacturing capabilities with digital manufacturing solutions. The role is designed for a commercially driven leader who can engage customers, understand their operational and supply-chain priorities, shape a practical digital manufacturing strategy, and convert that strategy into scalable commercial and manufacturing programs.

This leader will operate at the intersection of customer development, digital transformation, and manufacturing execution. The individual will work across commercial, engineering, digital, and plant organizations to connect customer needs with capabilities in additive manufacturing, digital thread, data and AI, connected operations, and distributed manufacturing. The ultimate objective is to create measurable customer value with offering solutions, grow external business, and improve utilization of manufacturing capacity.

As The Commercial Leader, you will be responsible for:

Commercial Growth & Customer Development
  • Own the development and execution of the commercial & digital growth strategy for advanced manufacturing, additive manufacturing, and general digital manufacturing solutions.
  • Identify, qualify, develop, and convert customer opportunities across energy, industrial, aerospace, defense, government, and other strategic markets.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer executives, operational leaders, engineering teams, procurement organizations, and technology stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a disciplined opportunity pipeline, including customer value propositions, pursuit plans, forecasts, and commercial priorities.
  • Lead customer engagements from early discovery and solution definition through proposal development, negotiation, award, and transition into execution.
  • Position the organization as a strategic partner that delivers business outcomes rather than individual technologies or manufacturing services.
Digital Manufacturing Strategy & Advisory
  • Lead customer discovery sessions to understand manufacturing, supply-chain, data, workflow, and technology challenges.
  • Help customers define digital manufacturing strategies and phased transformation roadmaps aligned with their operational and financial objectives.
  • Translate customer needs into integrated solutions using digital thread, manufacturing execution systems, product lifecycle management, enterprise system integration, data analytics, AI-enabled workflows, digital inventory, and connected factory concepts.
  • Develop business cases that articulate expected customer value, implementation priorities, adoption requirements, and pathways to scale.
  • Partner with digital, data, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically credible, secure, interoperable, and executable.
  • Monitor market and technology trends to identify emerging commercial opportunities in AI-enabled manufacturing and industrial digitalization.
Manufacturing Opportunity Development
  • Connect customer demand with available manufacturing, additive manufacturing, engineering, qualification, and industrialization capabilities.
  • Work with plant leadership to identify opportunities that increase manufacturing throughput, external revenue, and sustainable capacity utilization.
  • Coordinate technical feasibility assessments, make-versus-buy evaluations, qualification pathways, cost models, quotations, and execution plans.
  • Develop opportunities from prototype and new product development through qualification, recurring production, and lifecycle support.
  • Create feedback loops between customer-facing activities and manufacturing teams so market needs inform capability development and investment priorities.
Solution Commercialization & Ecosystem Development
  • Package advanced manufacturing and digital capabilities into repeatable customer offerings with clear scope, value, commercial models, and delivery ownership.
  • Establish strategic relationships with software providers, equipment manufacturers, system integrators, universities, government organizations, and industry consortiums.
  • Advance digital warehouse and distributed manufacturing models that connect qualified designs, data governance, supply-chain workflows, and production capacity.
  • Support expansion into Department of Defense and government manufacturing programs, including supplier qualification, resilient supply-chain, sustainment, and digital manufacturing opportunities.
  • Represent the organization in customer forums, industry conferences, executive reviews, and strategic partnership discussions.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance
  • Coordinate commercial, engineering, digital technology, quality, legal, finance, cybersecurity, supply-chain, and manufacturing stakeholders around a unified customer solution.
  • Establish clear governance for opportunity qualification, solution architecture, commercial approvals, project handoff, and benefits realization.
  • Provide leadership with concise updates on pipeline health, strategic pursuits, customer needs, execution risks, and capability gaps.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture that combines commercial urgency with technical rigor, operational discipline, and responsible data and AI practices.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, computer science, data science, business, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in business development, strategic sales, consulting, account leadership, or commercialization within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop executive customer relationships and convert complex needs into commercial opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of advanced manufacturing and digital manufacturing concepts, including additive manufacturing, digital thread, industrial data systems, analytics, and AI.
  • Experience leading complex pursuits that require coordination across technical, operational, commercial, and customer organizations.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including value proposition development, business cases, pricing, negotiation, and opportunity forecasting.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with both executive and technical audiences and to translate between business outcomes and solution requirements.
  • Ability to travel as required to support customers, partners, industry events, and manufacturing locations.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience commercializing additive manufacturing, manufacturing software, industrial AI, digital thread, digital inventory, or connected factory solutions.
  • Understanding of manufacturing workflows, qualification requirements, quality systems, production economics, and industrial supply chains.
  • Experience with energy, industrial, aerospace, defense, or government customers and complex regulated environments.
  • Ability to operate as a consultative seller who can frame customer challenges, facilitate strategic discussions, and lead solution development.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to create structure in emerging markets and develop new business models.
  • Proven ability to influence across organizational boundaries without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Strong judgment, executive presence, intellectual curiosity, and a record of delivering measurable commercial outcomes.
