What you'll do:

This role will be responsible for architecting, implementing, operating, and continuously optimizing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments with a strong focus on delivering a secure, performant, and reliable end-user virtual desktop experience for our clients. In support of AVD and overall End User Computing outcomes, this role also designs and engineers endpoint and identity capabilities including Microsoft Intune, Windows 11 provisioning, and lifecycle management, Active Directory/Entra ID, Group Policy, and mobile device enrollment strategies. He/she will work closely with cross-functional teams, clients, and vendors to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions. Ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of systems that enable client-based end-user experiences (physical and virtual) and core organizational functions. Designs, reviews, deploys, supports, and manages configurations for Windows hardware and cloud-based virtual machines, including AVD. Major systems supported by the team include, but are not limited to, Microsoft Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft MECM, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, and client software updates to ensure they function as expected across supported hardware and virtual systems. Applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems. This role will also mentor and provide guidance to support and junior staff.

As a Staff Engineer II, you'll provide expertise in a suite of technical tools and products in a given domain to ensure solutions are safe, secure, compliant and reliable. You'll identify develop and support needs, as well as taking on design responsibilities supporting project tasks. AS the Staff Engineer, II, you'll facilitate dialogue and activities to ensure team collaboration including teams outside of your domain. You'll develop effective presentations and narratives for their teams.
  • Ensures smooth and reliable operations of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes in collaboration with IT staff.
  • Works with senior leaders, decisions makers and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
  • Reviews existing integration capabilities, automation options, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost, and functionality in coordination with internal departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple Enterprise-wide projects and meet deadlines.
  • Performs installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of operating systems, software, and systems management tools.
  • Conducts research on software and system products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Create and manage policies for application deployment, device compliance, and security configurations.
  • Assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Coordinates and performs in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified new systems.
  • Collaborates to create configuration design for implementation of various business needs for End User Computing.
  • Monitors and tests system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports as needed.
  • Supports the bank's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
  • Lead the strategic planning of a project as it relates to technical solution design.
  • Design and implement engineering principles aimed at reliability practices and sound recovery procedures.
  • Design transaction specific application performance monitoring metrics that can be captured and passed to business partners.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations and procedures while also ensuring compliance with IT policies, procedures, and industry standards. Develop desktop procedures when needed that others follow.

What you'll need:

  • 7+ years of related experience IT App Support, IT Development, IT Networking, or similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • Expert administrative and engineering knowledge of Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) is a must.
  • Administrative knowledge of Nerdio tools to manage AVD and Intune.
  • Expert level knowledge of Active Directory and Entra/AZURE AD.
  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products. Preferably in Infrastructure systems (End User, Servers and Cloud systems configurations and performance tuning) Also, installing, configuring, and operating software packages for Windows systems.
  • Advanced experience with systems planning security principles and general software management and hardware best practices.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft AZURE Fundamentals (AZ-900), PowerShell, MECM, Intune, Cloud Certification are strongly preferred or equivalent experience in using/supporting the associated tools.
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with attention to detail. Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in wide range of technologies such as Microsoft Windows, Intune, Active Directory, VDI, user and group management, etc.
  • Advanced experience with Power Shell scripting and GPO distribution.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager or MECM to create and deploy packages for Windows.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities, including identifying complex problems, reviewing information, and evaluating options to resolve issues is essential.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general Financial Services or Banking is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards, and practices.
  • Advanced ability to see the big picture and align projects with organizational goals. Capable of leading and motivating cross-functional teams. Expertise in resolving conflicts and addressing challenges as well as skilled at identifying and mitigating risks at the project level. Proficient in governance patterns tied to intake, technical reviews, and architectural compliance.
  • Advanced speaking and writing communication skills to clearly articulate technical ideas and concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • May require up to 25% travel.
