Position Summary
The Coordinator of Student Affairs roles is responsible for day-to-day operations of the school in a safe and effective manner. The role also handles all student behavior modification issues and reports to the Executive Director. Essential Job Duties
- Ensure the safety and supervision of all students in accordance with program operations policies and standards,
- Assist management with developing staff to achieve program objectives and long-term goals,
- Develop and maintain positive relationships in the community with key organizations and customer contacts,
- Develop and train staff members in AMIkids' philosophy of behavior modification,
- Facilitate and participate in staff meetings and staff training sessions,
- Role model and provide staff development and motivation through continuing education, training, and performance feedback,
- Assist in the implementation of new policies and procedures,
- Serve as advisor and positive role model for assigned students,
- Assist in the preparation for placement of graduating youth,
- Prevent and intervene in youth altercations and incidents, using the authorized state mandated training methods,
- Oversee and structure student activities (e.g. field trips and recreational activities) with the safety of the youth as a priority,
- Participate in and supervise overnight trips and occasional extended trips that may require sleeping in tents, boats, institutes, etc. under varying weather conditions and may require extended workdays and on-call status,
- Drive institute vehicles as required in accordance with the Vehicle Policy and transportation standards,
- Maintain repair and maintenance logs and inventory of program equipment,
- Write/provide required reports to appropriate parties (e.g. incident reports, attendance, court reports),
- Administer youth medication(s) in accordance with Rx orders and operation guidelines and standards,
- Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with national standards,
- Conduct and practice emergency evacuation procedures,
- Assist with special projects and other duties as needed.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field,
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a related field, preferably working with youth; working within the Juvenile Justice System a plus,
- Obtain and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state requirements, ,
- Obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification by nationally recognized organization,
- Travel may be required.
