Hexcel is currently seeking an Engineering Manager for our Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. The Engineering Manager will lead a team of talented engineers in the manufacturing of products within the following areas: Advanced Acoustic Materials, Satellite & Propulsion Materials, and Aero Interiors & Defense Materials. Our ideal candidate exhibits a positive, proactive, and professional approach and will be expected to maintain a strong focus on employee and process safety, process reliability, and customer satisfaction.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Responsible for the leadership of the Process Engineering group at the Casa Grande facility. Provide direction and assistance to improve process reliability and material usage variances (MUV). Provide direction and assistance for the optimization of manufacturing processes, systems, and equipment across the facility in support of continuous improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • Provide engineering support to develop customer relationships aimed at customer satisfaction and new business. Support the introduction of new products (NPI) by providing timely tooling, manufacturing documentation, and customer technical interface. Ensure visibility of new programs with respect to schedule adherence and cost/budget compliance.
  • Provide engineering support and service to the Quality team with respect to raw material and product quality issues. Provide engineering support for the review and updating of raw material specifications, root cause investigations and corrective action plans.
  • Provide support and service to the production business units to meet internal and external customers' expectations. Manage the maintenance of engineering standards, bills of material, and routings. Ensure that all adjustments are timely, accurate, and consistent with current practice.
  • Provide engineering support and service to the Maintenance team with respect to equipment reliability improvements, development of preventative maintenance plans, equipment upgrades.
  • Provide engineering support for the review and approval of MOC's and Document Change Requests to help ensure Casa Grande maintains regulatory compliance and meets customer expectations within a highly regulated industry.
  • Maintain emphasis on operational, process, and technological improvements. Develop and maintain critical partnerships with outside agencies to ensure that plant technological advancements are continued. Lead the Process Engineering team in the development and execution of capital appropriations. Provide technical input in the management of plant capital projects, providing direction and guidance on cost and schedule control.
  • Responsible for managing employee development by providing applicable training, challenging assignments, and clear performance expectations. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising and rewarding performance; addressing complaints, resolving problems, and administering corrective action when necessary.
  • Establish and maintain a professional and consistent work environment to help ensure Casa Grande remains a viable and healthy facility and provides a satisfactory work environment. Partner with the environmental health and safety team to ensure compliance of Hexcel's production processes to all environmental regulations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and secure work environment. Actively support and interact in monthly and/or plant refresher safety training using available resources and prescribed goals to determine and subsequently help eliminate actual and potential safety issues, unsafe acts and/or conditions to preclude accidents, to keep Hexcel employees safe, and to achieve the Department/Plant and/or Corporate Safety goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in Engineering, master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years related experience that demonstrates increasing levels of responsibility with a minimum of three (3) years in a leadership role. Preferred experience includes manufacturing, ideally aerospace, in a continuous-run, material processing operation with a multi-shift, multi-product environment with regular customer interaction.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Minitab and manufacturing execution systems (MES) preferred. Strong statistics background in support of Six Sigma activities. LEAN/Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, work effectively both independently and in a cross-functional team environment is critical.
  • Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions from groups of business leaders and customers, write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
