Job Overview: The Director level of SDG is an experienced leader within Strategic Delivery and Growth (SDG), expected to leverage their Research and Development experience, Therapeutic Area (TA) experience and operational study execution experience to sustainably grow and maintain a portfolio of innovative and profitable business. This includes early engagement conversations with clients focused on but not limited to Fortrea innovative operational delivery strategies; leading a cross functional team to design effective and differentiated strategies for operational execution; performing post award strategy oversight and redesign. As a key leader/Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the TA, they are expected to proactively contribute to cross enterprise business opportunities, leveraging their expertise to aid the growth of the integrated business across Fortrea. They are expected to establish and develop strong client relationships and be seen as an industry leader internally by colleagues and peers and externally by the client base.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Have a strong background across pharmaceutical development, with the research and development know-how combined with an excellent understanding of the industry, market and clients' needs.
- Able to present the cross enterprise medical, scientific and operational capabilities of the organization to clients.
- Contributes to the growth within Fortrea.
- Designs and develops winning trial strategies and integrated solutions that result in clear differentiation in the marketplace, higher win rate, and a more profitable portfolio of business in Fortrea.
- Owns and internally advocates for client needs, expectations and satisfaction; identifies, develops and fosters new and existing client relationships at senior operational levels with clients, KOLs, vendor partners etc., in partnership with operational colleagues, guiding teams in delivering to and establish/maintain effective client relationships.
- Leads high quality, strategically innovative, price competitive, end-to-end business development strategies, including RFI response, proposal development, bid defense preparation and be an ambassador of the Company.
- Support Fortrea's capability, visibility and position through development of appropriate publications and presentations at conferences, meetings and webinars, etc.
- Has a good understanding of the operational requirements to deliver against the agreed strategy in the post award space.
- Provides oversight of strategy implementation in the post award space, ensuring that the team understands the defined operational strategy.
- Uses established operational, financial and quality metrics and reporting dashboards to assess compliance to strategy. Remains in consultation with the team in the post award space until end of recruitment, and ensures ongoing. strategy assessments and modifications in line with the direction of the project
- Contributes to both quality control and risk assurance activities to ensure project deliverables are met according to regulatory, Fortrea and client requirements.
- Uses experience and lessons learned to ensure process improvements are implemented successfully across all opportunities.
- Contributes to key project performance indicators relating to core strategies, for client and Fortrea specified metrics.
- Engages with Fortrea's leadership to help drive and implement initiatives which aim to improve performance of the business, including cross TA and functional integrated opportunities, to grow and expand the business.
- Helps to implement the company and department vision and strategy; delivers against company and department operating plans and project plans; able to achieve results in a global, virtual and complex environment; tracks and measures progress.
- Partner with peers ensuring consistency (quality, standards, policies, processes and practices) across the portfolio.
- Leads by Example in building and sustaining a scalable organization; creates a forward looking culture of ownership and accountability; is self-aware and fosters a continuous learning environment.
- Effectively leads and/or coordinates in a global environment; sets clear expectations for colleagues; leverages experience for success; consistently communicates and connects.

- Supports a disciplined and consistent approach to all areas of SDG, and applies quality management principles.
- Acts as a role model, and takes on mentorship responsibilities.
- Contributes to the TA commercial and scientific leadership and direction, leveraging expertise from other functions as required to ensure the successful growth and differentiation in the global marketplace.
- Ensures appropriate development and delivery of Department, TA and program-specific training.
- Participates in training opportunities to advance knowledge of TA, drug development, GCP, etc.
- In depth knowledge of operations.
- All other duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications (Minimum Required):
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements.
Experience (Minimum Required):
- 5 or more years of research and development and clinical research experience (pharmaceutical or biotech and CRO), preferably including 3 or more years in Drug Delivery Project Management.
Preferred Qualifications Include:
- Advance degree, PhD and/or MBA preferred.
- Experience with client relationships and understanding of business development.
- Demonstrated vision, strategy and growth experience.
- Abilities to review/analyze relevant data so as to build evidence-based clinical trial strategies.
- Strong networking abilities and an ability/willingness to work with individuals across the globe.
- Strong communication, planning and organizational skills.
- Financial acumen in understanding and effectively contributing to a competitive study or program strategy which is profitable.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Will involve out of normal office hours as required by the role.
Pay Range: $165,000-$190,000 (The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity) Benefits: All job offers will be based on a candidate's skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
