Job Overview:

The Physician Liaison serves as the main relationship manager, connecting the hospital with referring community physicians.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred:

  • Masters in health administration, business, or similar field
  • Two or more years of business experience related to healthcare

Scheduling Requirements

  • Status: Full Time
  • Hours: 40:00
  • Time: 8:00am-4:30pm
  • Shift: Day

Essential Functions:

  • They function as strategic ambassador, advocating for services, programs, initiatives, and opportunities within the system,
  • They engage in outreach to physicians within the community and act as a direct support channel for the physician practices; this position promotes and sustains operational success:
    • Increased practice exposure
    • Reduced patient leakage
    • Building referral networks
    • Enhanced clinical care coordination
    • Enhanced provider satisfaction and retention
    • Must possess the ability to operate effectively in a rapidly changing and high-pressure environment:
    • Regular use of electronic devices such as computers and mobile devices
    • Frequent travel for off-site community outreach
    • Regular engagement and visitation to offsite physician offices/practices

Education:

  • Plans, implements and promotes clinical service line initiatives/educational programs,
  • Educates health care teams regarding the facilities programs,
  • Communication:
  • Communicates (orally, written, electronically) effectively with physicians, physician offices, and healthcare team,
  • Communicates in oral/written/electronic format to Administration / Managers the scope of the facilities programs planned/accomplished, both as requested and as established on a monthly or quarterly basis services/programs included: Ortho & Neuro Spine Surgery, Geriatric Hip Fracture, Bariatrics, Cardiology, Oncology, GI, Physical Therapy, Pulmonology, Psychiatry, and any additional facility programs,

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Demonstrates resource capability through use of other disciplines within the continuum of care

Leadership

  • Leads/actively participates in committee meetings as assigned,
  • Lead/actively participate in RWJBH system initiatives, coalitions, and committees as they pertain to the ambulatory services affiliated with the facility,

Business Development

  • Conduct on-site visits with physicians in person to promote and sell RWJUH services,
  • Promote RWJUH service lines; deliver branded messages; execute planned programs,
  • Meet with RWJUH management staff and medical staff to learn about existing and new clinical service offerings at RWJUH in order to communicate approved information to target audience with the goal of increasing patient referrals to TRMC,
  • Establish strong, solid relationships with physicians/administrators at key provider offices within their assigned territory,
  • Coordinate, implement and build upon system-wide physician referral strategies and programs,
  • Develop and carry out plans for assigned practices and territories that contain strategies and tactics targeting physicians and their practice staff who have the ability to significantly impact referrals to RWJUH,
  • Participate in health fairs, conventions, training programs and other events,
  • Utilize creativity to identify and develop other promotional opportunities/initiatives,
  • Strategic & tactical planning, targeting, data analysis, and lead generation,
  • Identify physician referral opportunities within the medical community through research and prospecting,
  • Identify and build new business opportunities and enhance lines of communication between referring physicians and TRMC providers,
  • Identify and coordinate speaking opportunities within hospitals and medical associations,
  • Issue Resolution Support,
  • Process improvement & team participation,
  • Serve as the communication channel between referring physicians and TRMC administration & clinical/executive leadership to provide issue resolution suns to gather feedback and questions,
  • Develop and maintain a strong partnership with RWJUH service lines administrative staff,
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives,
