Supervisor, Shipping & Receiving








Position Profile:

This position is responsible for supporting all Shipping/Receiving, people and processes. The key responsibility of this role is to supervise the assigned staff in completing all duties and responsibilities related to the receipt of all items entering the Marotta facility and the shipment of all items leaving the facility. The role will provide a single point of contact for issue resolution, coverage scheduling and partnership building with Operations personnel. All Shipping and Receiving employees will directly report under this position. The supervisor is responsible for the labor collection, training, development, and proficiency of each employee as they perform their duties and the overall performance of the function. Weekly status updates and ongoing support efforts for continuous process improvement are additionally required.

Minimum Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; 10+ years shipping & receiving or general business/management experience
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency and desire/ability to see activities through to completion
  • Training in general safety, supervisory sexual harassment prevention, electrostatic discharge awareness, foreign object damage awareness, quality system awareness
  • Demonstrated organization skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel including cross-functional stakeholders
  • Computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.



Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:


  • Distribute and prioritize work to ensure the timely execution of effort and the completion of daily workload.
  • Coordinate and communicate the availability of resources to support daily operations.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement by conducting weekly "6S" audits, and maintaining a clean, secure, well organized, and clearly marked storage/work area with visual systems techniques deployed.
  • Act as a single point of contact to handle all issues and inquiries, providing a timely response to each.
  • Review monthly delivery forecast to estimate, requisition, and document special packaging requirements to support the on-time delivery of products to our customers and outside suppliers.
  • Generate metric reports as scheduled
  • Ensure the proper operation of lift cart, pallet jack, forklift and chain hoist in loading and packaging of shipments and movement of material.
  • Ensure the timely completion of efforts to sort, unpack, count, label, and receive; production, expense, repair, and shelf-life limited items within 24 hours after delivery. Ensure the proper transactions and entries for each are completed before moving the items to the next appropriate location.
  • Responsible for the verification of existing MSDS data for all liquids, chemicals, solvents, adhesives, and such, prior to the receipt and delivery.
  • Ensure all incoming deliveries are inspected for damage, defects, or records discrepancies and notify Procurement personnel when these conditions exist, so returns to vendor (RTV's) may be processed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and update Shipping/Receiving documented processes, procedures, and requirements. Ensure that employees are qualified to complete assigned work by being able to explain and demonstrate proper adherence to all documented processes. Ensure proper training is provided and completed. (as required).
  • Maintain the "Ship in Place" customer owned material data base for audit support.

  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization
  • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives/goals
  • Assist in the training of personnel to perform required technical tasks (as directed)
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.



Work Environment:


  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
  • Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8 hours, Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekend work are required, as job duties demand.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Vision and color vision must pass job-required vision screening


  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, or crouch, and move about the facility.
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.


This position is at our Montville, NJ corporate office's location.

Salary Range: $67,700 - $76,400
