Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Physician Compensation is responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of pay programs for physicians, employed providers, and PSA/MSA arrangements. This role evaluates physician compensation strategies, reviews compensation for new physician hires, conducts internal pay analyses, and assesses compensation arrangements to ensure regulatory compliance. The Director develops and aligns strategies, initiatives, pay practices, and supporting infrastructure to achieve outcomes that reflect the organization's goals and enterprise-wide opportunities. The Director provides insight into market trends and compensation strategies that influence provider pay while advising leaders on best practices. This role models and develops compensation plans for specialty groups and individual subspecialists and advises operational and medical leaders on best practices.


Responsibilities

  • Directs the day-to-day operations of provider compensation while serving as a leader and subject matter expert to the team.
  • Ensures administration of employed physician compensation is accurate, timely, and in compliance with contracts.
  • Works in coordination with C-suite, legal and compliance department, and other key stakeholders to develop and maintain compensation models for current and newly acquired service lines or physician practices.
  • Oversees development of analytics and reporting processes for employed physician compensation including benchmarking and budget analyses.
  • Partners with appropriate department leaders to address and resolve complex physician compensation and pay practice issues.
  • Participates in the development and deployment of policies and procedures related to physician compensation.
  • Leads the diligence process to enable the simultaneous use of multiple CMS tables to administer physician compensation.
  • Leads the annual audit process with both internal and external auditors.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or finance
  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, finance or management, preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in physician compensation including design of pay programs
  • 3+ years of management experience

Knowlege, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven Leadership skills and ability to lead teams and/or projects across departments or entities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, particularly with Excel and experience using reports from health care financial management or clinical systems and database management systems
  • Strong financial management and analytical skills, preferred.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and laws to include but not limited to Stark, Fraud and Abuse, Anti-kickback, and IRS, preferred
