Job Overview

The Finance Manager oversees the development, negotiation, tracking and management of complex research project budgets and multiple cost center budgets within the Research Institute and Children's Clinical Research Organization (CCRO) and conducts ongoing financial reporting, analysis and presentation of research financial performance at CHCO. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting complex budgeting and accounting functions, including financial, statistical, and analytical studies; gathering and analyzing financial information, and making recommendations and assisting with interpretation and implementation; conducting comprehensive and ongoing cost center analyses (for multiple departments across the organization), developing progress reports and summarizing and presenting findings at multiple levels; Overseeing the development and negotiation of complex clinical trial budgets with multiple leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies; developing business plans to support project and unit feasibility analysis and plan for organizational growth; supervising and managing a team of financial analysts and administrative personnel; and performing other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

* Conducts and oversees the complex budgeting and accounting functions, including the development, tracking and management of complex research project and cost center budgets; conducts ongoing financial reporting and analyses, develops business plans to support project and unit feasibility and presents results to leaders across the organization.
* Conducts and oversees the development and negotiation of complex clinical trial budgets with multiple internal and external organizations, including federal government, non-profit organizations and leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
* Participates in organizational planning to define goals and initiatives; and continually assesses departmental, project and individual performance, reports on results and develops/implements action plans as needed, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to incorporate feedback from senior leadership and staff in decision making and action. Sets, tracks and reports on measurable departmental goals that are aligned with the mission and strategic initiatives of the organization; builds and maintains collaborative partnerships with leadership and staff both within and outside the organization; and demonstrates a working knowledge of department/organization research operations and reports results and action plans to senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.
* Oversees, monitors and provides direct management and supervision, support and expertise for the department/organization staff; this includes hiring, onboarding, firing, transitions and succession and providing and overseeing education and training of financial and administrative personnel, including industry and federal regulations for research financial management and Good Clinical Practice. Assesses personnel workload and makes or adjusts assignments based on the needs of the department and the abilities of staff members. Creates a worker-friendly environment that is fair and develops the potential of the workforce.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, accounting or related field.
  • Experience
    • Three years of experience in financial management and reporting, including budget development and negotiation, financial modeling and business plan development.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $101,987.37 to $152,981.05
