Staff Position / Job Summary

The Account Manager of Business Development is responsible for leading a high-performing team in building relationships with businesses that may have a need for corporate training or seeking customized business solutions. This team may assist the businesses with talent acquisition and development. The Team will manage the entire process from identification of a lead, to needs analysis, creation of proposals, and closing the deal. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Corporate Relations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Works collaboratively with Business Development teammates to serve the needs of constituents in the business community of Dallas County, and members of the Dallas College community.

  • Works collaboratively within the assigned team to execute workflows and work systems that ensure accuracy, reliability, and continuity of operations.

  • Works collaboratively within the assigned team to meet unit performance metrics and execute associated continuous improvement plans.

  • Participate in regular workforce business development team meetings.

  • Interpret data and generate reports as required by supervisor.

  • Develop and effectively generate professional sales proposals, dashboard reports, and other key presentation materials to help produce the desired client-centric outcomes/solutions.

  • Routinely and/or daily use Salesforce.com as the CRM tool to record relevant data related to client engagement, business development, dashboard reports, pipeline reports, proposals, etc.

  • Develop and execute an ongoing personal professional development plan.

  • Engages in ongoing, and continuous professional development experiences to foster increased skills, competencies and abilities.

  • Provide effective supervision and leadership to a team of coordinators of business development.

  • Support the ongoing, and continuous professional growth of the team being supervised.

  • Required Dallas College Professional Development Hours per Academic Year.

  • All employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours.

  • People leaders are required an additional 16 hours of leadership development.

  • Perform other duties not listed as assigned.

The following duties are required for People Leader roles specifically:

  • Exercises full discretion and decision-making authority in the recruitment, selection, hiring, mentoring, coaching, development & termination of staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, budgetary constraints, and workforce planning strategies.

  • Drive high performance by administering the performance management process timely, setting clear expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and implementing initiatives that enhance employee engagement, motivation, and retention.

Minimum and Preferred - Education, Experience, and/or Certifications

Required Qualifications for Role (necessary or mandatory)

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus three (3) years of relevant professional sales experience demonstrated results.

  • 2-3 years' experience supervising a small team of 3-5 individuals.

  • Current and valid Texas driver's license required for offsite travel.

Other Preferred Qualifications for Role (not mandatory, but advantageous)

  • Associates degree

  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred

  • Official Transcript required

  • Ability to facilitate effective meetings and make compelling sales presentations.

  • Ability to manage tasks and keep the work organized.

  • Must be a team player and interact well with the other members of the Business Development work unit and across the Dallas College community.

  • Must be comfortable maintaining detailed records of interactions with prospects and customers and entering notes in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Salesforce.

  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently to find and build corporate relationships.

  • Ability to lead a business development team in a productive and positive work environment.

  • Ability to effectively utilize LMI data to help the business development team mine potential client prospects, leads; conduct pipeline reports, develop and present professional dashboards, and develop customize solutions that lead to industry/company in-demand training opportunities.
