Salary: The budgeted salary range for the position is $70,000 to $75,000. Position Summary
The Associate Director of Communications and Marketing Technology is an operational role supporting the Director in the day-to-day leadership of the Communications and Marketing Technology (CMT) unit within Strategic Recruitment and Outreach. The position oversees and participates in the planning, production, and maintenance of communications, marketing materials, and digital content that advance CMT and SRO recruitment goals. The Associate Director manages day-to-day operations and personally executes work within their area of expertise while supervising professional and student staff as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Project and Team Management_x000d_
  • Execute and oversee the execution of routine communication projects and recurring tasks, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met._x000d_
  • Manage the allocation of team resources across concurrent projects, ensuring balanced workloads and realistic timelines.
  • Oversee routine workflow processes, team operations, and information tracking.
  • Manage the day-to-day workload of the team, balancing priorities and troubleshooting roadblocks.
  • Regularly review team performance metrics, resource allocation (time spent time, budgeting), as well as performance measures for content (deliverability, clicks, accessibility) and makes recommendations for improvements and adjustments.
  • Oversee daily operations of the assigned portfolio, balancing competing deadlines and resources.
  • Analyze project metrics and team capacity to recommend workflow or staffing adjustments.
  • Advise the unit head on setting goals, staffing plans, and process improvements.
  • Content Editing and Execution _x000d_
  • Independently manage and execute a portfolio of communication projects from conception to completion including, emails, web content, print publications, etc._x000d_
  • Team expert and provides guidance on writing and design best practices, ensuring clarity and consistency in messaging.
  • Maintain a structured review process, including checklists and workflows that ensure quality control and feedback deadlines
  • Act as the final reviewer for all communications materials before production, ensuring accuracy and compliance with style guidelines.
  • Maintains source of truth documentation, archival process, general processes and guidelines.
  • Understanding of entire portfolio of CMT communications and their dependencies and how the systems work together to achieve the unit's goals
  • Apply brand standards consistently in all communication efforts while coordinating with external vendors as necessary.
  • Coaches and develops staff members to refine their project management skills, writing and design skills.

  • Work closely with the Director to translate strategic goals into actionable plans and systems._x000d_
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to assess communication needs and develop appropriate systems to support those needs.
  • Works with unit leadership to advance alignment with institutional brand standards, messaging, and university-wide priorities as outlined by Strategic Marketing and Communications.
  • Ensure that deadlines dictated by the external partners and higher education industry are met.
  • Continually identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in team operations.

  • Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor's Degree

    Five years of progressive experience in communications, project management, design, or related work in higher education or related sector

    Demonstrated project management and supervisory experience.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Master's degree in communications, marketing, or related field.
    Experience in higher education enrollment communications.
    Familiarity with Slate CRM or similar campaign management tools.
    Experience managing both creative and production staff.
    Familiarity with HTML, email platforms, and content management systems.Proficiency in basic design principles and a willingness to learn design tools.Understanding of accessibility and brand compliance standards.
    Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
    Strong organizational and leadership skills to oversee daily team operations.
    Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and urgent requests.
