Position Summary:
The Driver supports Eskaton's WellPath Program by providing safe, reliable, and welcoming transportation for residents, ensuring every ride contributes to comfort, connection, and community engagement.
Essential Job Functions:
- Transportation & Resident Support.
- Safely transports residents to and from scheduled destinations-including appointments, outings, and community events-ensuring each trip reflects Eskaton's Welcoming and Empowerment values.
- Provides assistance to residents entering and exiting vehicles, including operation of wheelchair lifts and securement of mobility devices, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety.
- Engages residents respectfully during transportation, supporting conversation and connection consistent with Eskaton's person-directed approach.
- Adapts to individual mobility needs and provides physical assistance with care and professionalism.
- Maintains awareness of each resident's well-being during trips and reports any health or behavioral concerns to the Director of Resident Services promptly.
Vehicle Maintenance, Safety, and Compliance:
- Performs and documents daily vehicle safety inspections, including completion of checklists before and after operation
- Maintains proper fuel, oil, and fluid levels, and ensures vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and ready for use at all times.
- Coordinates with Maintenance for routine service, repairs, and preventive maintenance; promptly reports safety or mechanical issues.
- Completes and maintains accurate records such as mileage logs, safety inspections, maintenance reports, and trip sheets.
- Complies with all applicable state and federal transportation regulations (e.g., Vehicle Code, Health and Safety Code) and Eskaton's internal safety policies.
- Handles vehicle incidents, accidents, or emergencies according to Eskaton procedures and completes required reports promptly and accurately.
- Operates vehicles in a manner that ensures resident safety, comfort, and confidence at all times.
Resident Experience & Service:
- Responds to resident transportation requests in a timely, respectful manner, creating a positive and reassuring experience before, during, and after each trip.
- Takes initiative to resolve transportation-related concerns or ensures appropriate follow-up by the Director of Resident Services.
- Communicates clearly with residents, families, and staff about transportation schedules, routes, and any changes that may affect service.

Starting pay ranges from $20.65 - $25.75 per hour. Factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, job-related skills, internal equity, and market considerations may influence base pay.
This position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Training and Experience:
- Valid California driver's license; ability to operate large vans safely and skillfully.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- No moving violations or preventable accidents within the past three years.
- Prior experience transporting older adults or individuals with mobility challenges preferred.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.

The final candidate must successfully pass Eskaton's post offer, pre-employment testing which includes a criminal background check, drug test, TB screen test and health screen. All new hires are required to sign an arbitration agreement as a condition of employment.
