As a Regional Traffic Management Center Operator with the Department of Transportation, you will help keep communities connected and traffic flowing. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
This role focuses on keeping regional traffic operations safe, organized, and informed by using intelligent transportation systems and real time communication. As a Regional Traffic Management Center Operator, you will perform the following duties:
- Traffic Monitoring: Observe cameras, radios, and detector devices to assess traffic, weather, and roadway conditions
- Incident Response: Evaluate incidents and activate message boards, radio alerts, and software tools to inform travelers
- Agency Coordination: Notify the proper agencies and personnel during incidents, weather events, and urgent roadway situations
- Service Patrol Management: Direct service patrol units to incidents and track their actions to support safe and efficient response
- Weather and Closure Tracking: Monitor weather conditions and statewide closure systems to maintain awareness of changing conditions
- Event and Activity Oversight: Track construction, special events, and equipment locations to support situational awareness and planning

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday - Monday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience evaluating and coordinating information related to traffic data, incidents, or conditions.
