THE POSITION

Begin an exciting role as a Tourist Information Counselor with the Department of Transportation. This position allows you to assist travelers, share important information, and represent Pennsylvania tourism. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps travelers plan their visits by providing accurate information, maintaining Welcome Center operations, and supporting tourism outreach. As a Tourist Information Counselor, you will perform the following duties:
- Customer Assistance: Provide directions, travel guidance, and helpful information for visitors
- Center Operations: Open and close the Welcome Center and maintain a neat and organized environment
- Literature Management: Restock and organize brochures, supplies, and display materials
- Reporting Duties: Complete daily reports and track visitor counts and reservation activity
- Communication Support: Share questions and concerns with supervisors to improve operations
- Travel Participation: Attend required meetings, shows, and tours to support tourism outreach

- Part-time temporary "on call" employment.
- On call shifts can range from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, (temporary work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM), 7 days per week
- Shifts vary and working hours are based on operational need.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in work involving public contact; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be willing and able to work in and commute to Fulton County PennDOT Welcome Center: I-70 westbound, 1/2 mile north of PA/MD border.
- You must have the ability to be "on call" between 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, seven days a week. Current hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
- You must have the ability to report to work within 1 hour of being called in.
- You must have front facing public contact experience.
- You must have experience working with computers.
- You must have experience answering phones, composing emails, compiling reports, tracking office activities and inventory, and entering data, and filing.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Five or more years of full-time experience in work involving front facing public
- High school diploma or equivalent
