Accountant II
Location: Hybrid Remote within service area states of PA, DE, MD, VA, NC, SC, GA, and FL with one day per week in an office location.

Your role in our success:

This role is responsible for accounting and analytical services through timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial and operational statements. Additionally, this role will require consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders (business unit leaders, auditors and others).



    What you'll be working on...



    • Maintain fixed asset records for regulated utility operations in compliance with FERC Uniform System of Accounts (USoA) and applicable state and local Public Service Commission (PSC) requirements.


    • Record, classify, and monitor capital additions, retirements, transfers, and depreciation in accordance with approved capitalization policies and property unit catalogs.


    • Support construction accounting activities, including CWIP/RWIP, asset in-service determinations, and proper account assignments.


    • Prepare and reconcile plant roll forwards and depreciation schedules for FERC Form 1, state annual reports, and internal regulatory reporting.


    • Interpret and apply FERC (18 CFR Part 101 and/or Part 201) guidance and state commission orders impacting property accounting treatment.


    • Coordinate with engineering, construction, tax, and regulatory teams to validate asset data and resolve accounting or regulatory issues.


    • Provide audit, rate case, and commission inquiry support related to plant balances, depreciation, and asset accounting practices.


    • Facilitate meetings with project managers to discuss various projects or tasks to understand status of the project (% of completion) and communicate actual vs budget capital spend.


    • Evaluate existing processes to identify opportunities for improvements.


    • Attend management meetings with BU leaders to discuss financial results.


    • Contribute to cross departmental collaboration within other finance areas to help achieve timely filing goals as well as overall company growth.


    • Participate in company efforts focused towards community involvement and safety.


    • Other monthly tasks related to providing accounting services.


    Who you are:



    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
    • Three years in finance and/or accounting
    • Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Knowledge of utility accounting preferred
    • Advanced Microsoft excel skills
    • Excellent communication skills - oral and written
    • Ability to understand and comprehend financial statements for the purpose of performing routine analysis
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and build strong partnerships with operations personnel, finance personnel, and other corporate departments
    • Ability to communicate effective in written and verbal formats
