This role involves hands-on work with analytical and characterisation techniques, contributing directly to data generation, method optimisation, and problem-solving. Bench Scientists differ from lab assistants in that they are responsible for the execution and interpretation of scientific protocols, often working closely with research leads to inform decision-making.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory experiments using established scientific methods to support research and development objectives.
  • Prepare and analyse samples using appropriate instrumentation and techniques.
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and observations in compliance with GLP and internal standards.
  • Collaborate with scientists and project teams to troubleshoot issues and interpret data.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation relevant to the scientific discipline.
  • Ability to follow and adapt scientific protocols with attention to detail.
  • Strong documentation and data interpretation skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.

    • Buffer preparation
    • General lab techniques and documentation

  • Ability to follow experimental protocols and ask appropriate scientific questions

Preferred / Plus Skills

  • Experience with assay development concepts (e.g., antibody titration, optimization, sub-saturating conditions)
  • Experience preparing and characterizing reagents:

    • Antibody biotinylation
    • HABA assay or equivalent techniques

  • Familiarity with laboratory automation (e.g., Hamilton, Integra, or similar systems)
  • Experience using or exposure to LIMS / electronic lab notebooks
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Copilot) is a plus

Experience Level

  • Targeting 2-4 years of relevant lab experience
  • Open to:

    • Recent Master's graduates with hands-on lab experience
    • Early-career candidates who are eager, adaptable, and motivated

  • Not a senior scientist role; candidate must be willing to perform day-to-day bench work

Soft Skills (Critical)

  • Strong communication skills
  • Team-oriented, positive attitude
